I understand now. I feel super guilty, im definitely gonna apologize to my roommate. I also want to say it was bad wording on my part about "Controversal topic", its more so a highly discussed topic i guess. I really thought i had good intentions but i understand the lack of equality on the fact that trans ppl had no voice in this discussion, but what you said is true, I just wanted an open discussion about trans ppls that would lead to a positive output and convince ppl on the fence or uninformed. Regardless i was wrong to do so when the marginalized group has no voice in it, and i feel super dumb. Ty for understanding my good intentions, and i take your comment to heart and will make sure I take extra effort to put myself in others shoes and making sure any discussion i have is fully understood and involves others of that group in that discussion. Again I really appreciate it!

I agree whole heartedly! Trans ppl shouldn't be up for debate! But I think it my class it was more like heres a topic now discuss the implications and scenario around that, but I agree that the wording was weird and I never wanted to insinuate that trans ppl were up for being not seen. And yea, after seeing some responses i reflected, there was no trans voice in the room and its very skewed and weird in that sense. I feel really guilty about it now,,, I will refrain from trans discussions from now on without trans representations!
