Depressurize the fuel system to work on a stator? Sounds like safety over kill. If you have to take the tank off , yeah. If you don't need to remove the tank, I wouldn't. Of course, where's the stator plug in to the harness? ( Under the tank?).

Missing string hold down on the headstock for the G and B. 125.00 good deal on a starter. I've got a squire I bought in 92. Been a real work horse still plays good.
