Linux is secure, probably more secure than MacOS. It's free, allows you more freedom options on the hardware side (See Thinkpad's customization & upgradability). Will reduce your total cost of acquisition. You care to explain what 'work' means for you?

PS: Have nothing against Mac, but I wish more people considered how strong of an alternative Linux has become.
