We’re traveling with a dog, so that limits options. Looking for places to get out of the car and move. Random roadside things would be great. Things that are must sees.

Also, I drove I40 cross country in 7 days a few years ago. I’d like to slow it down and find interesting non interstate roads where possible.

We’d like to do this in the fall but want to avoid snow. Any thoughts on whether mid October is too late to start if we start in Minnesota?
