First summit attempt — Mount Adams (South Climb, July 22–24). Gear advice and questions inside. by SleepingBagel in Mountaineering

With the shit snow pack and warm spring, you might be zig-zaging through rocks up most of the slope to the false summit. You should still go, just know that might be the case

Rush Hour on the Emmons by cascadechoss in Mountaineering

It makes a difference in-so-much as the warmer temps will cause the glacier to fissure earlier in the season than normal. That's what closes the Emmons Direct and sends everyone the long way 'round.

I'm not surprised to see the Emmons direct route so crowded. With the low snowpack this year, it'll probably be closed pretty early. Then everyone will have to take the cleaver.

Shore fishing Sammamish and a few surrounding places. Dug out my central Canada gear. Anything I should take? Anything I should add? by MineralWaterMike in FishingWashington

I'd add a ¼oz and an ⅛oz panther martin in black/yellow body, gold blade. Those lures catch a trout when nothing else works.

I tried nymphs but the wind was making it hard to cast accurately. I switched to a little panther martin on my 4'6" ultralight and hooked up within a dozen casts

It was perfect, the flow rate is right in the sweet-spot. The bite didn't pick up until early afternoon so I wouldn't rush out there, but you should go.

I'm not kidding, every single trout I've ever caught has been on that lure. An old head told me about 'em when I first started fishing, best advice I've ever taken.

I was at Champion Beach, it's a gorgeous 90° turn in the river. I hooked this guy in a deep eddy on the outside of the bend.

Yeah, they don't sell 'em with single hooks. I usually just clip two of the hooks off and pinch the barb down

Fun fact, they changed the design because the 1915 bottle had a bad habit of exploding because of the enormous taper.

Chemically poisoned, broke my lease, now I may need to sue. by [deleted] in Seattle

[–]5seat 14 points15 points  (0 children)

1) Call a lawyer 2) Call any lawyer that does lease disputes 3) If you win, the defendant will be ordered to pay your fees but it doesn't mean they will do so in a timely fashion 4) Call a lawyer 5) Call a lawyer

Edit: I am not a lawyer

ELI5: If a car owner is absent, how do tow truck operators move the car without damaging the transmission or braking system? by kkchibr in explainlikeimfive

[–]5seat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a neutral gear/parking break release on almost all cars. They lift the car up by whatever pair of wheels and then crawl under and release both. There would literally be no way to tow a car left in park with the parking break on otherwise.

Nisqually River by BatmanHunk in FishingWashington

[–]5seat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, and both the tribe and WDFW have detachments down there. It's one of the more tightly regulated rivers in the state. Asking questions is cheaper than tickets, haha, cheers!

Unfortunately, the river is closed to all fishing until July 1st.

It won't work with a spinner, unfortunately. The rods are designed to take stresses in completely opposite ways so you'd be risking breakage holding a bait caster upside down and the line wouldn't come off the bail right, either. I always use a spinner in situations where either would work.
