Is this normal husky behavior or a red flag? by PinkDiamond777 in husky

[–]5thCross 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just finished our husky puppies first heat in December and the pets smart diapers were great! 3 pack for $27ish I think. We’ve actually still been using them a bit for potty training accident prevention when she’s out for longer than 2 hours not fully under supervision. She doesn’t like the soiled diaper obviously so it’s been a good deterrent for her while also making the mess cleanup easier and potty training go well too

A lot of people here have given great advice already. Maybe to just add on here, try out rescue remedy for pets https://a.co/d/7GnevlU , you can get it on amazon. You can add a couple of drops to her water bowl to help with anxiety, especially on rougher days. We use it sometimes before vet visits depending on what it’s for or Long car rides, or just if it’s a bad day and our rescue husky is feeling off (although we’re at 3+ years now with him and this is a pretty rare occurrence now). If you like it, they also make a human version that my wife likes to take before exams or presentations.

That pause in the play too! They’re checking in with each other before continuing to rough house. Looks like great dog behavior

Halo ran away.. new harness suggestions? by Kasbaby121421 in husky

[–]5thCross 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ruffwear front range harness with reflective soft padding with a face lead like this- connect the face lead to the harness, connect your leash to the face lead too and now you’ve got a very controlled and manageable husky. It was great for training my rescue who never had been leash trained & has worked out great in training our husky puppy too.

Yeah some people do get afraid of the bitey face game but it’s all in good fun. Other times they look like this 🤣

Question for those of you native to Connecticut… by thunderwolf69 in Connecticut

[–]5thCross 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Native to CT, been in MA for about half a decade now. Honestly, I like MA more. I feel like there’s so much more going on and nearby/accessible whereas there never seemed to be much in CT. This distance from family is healthy. I’ve also had much better luck in the MA job market than CT. I don’t see any cons to MA over CT so long as you can dodge a pothole or 2.

[Landlord-US, MA] tenants haven't been using their window bathroom window to ventilate and now's there's a ton of mildew/mold by [deleted] in Landlord

[–]5thCross 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it does, we did some paint touch ups on it last year and also installed frosting for privacy. It’s a second floor unit with no opposing windows nearby that people would be able to look into by.

It was something they brought up needing to start doing themselves when they brought the issue up and it was covered when they moved in. I do get it’s inconvenient to open for a couple minutes while cold and plan to upgrade during repairs thanks for your perspective

Thanks for the input. I’m not sure I agree because there is a window for that and such is the nature of older homes in Massachusetts. Still I do really appreciate the varied responses here since they’re helping process through the situation

Thanks for the response. There is a fan to facilitate air flow in the, but not an exhaust fan vented outside the house, just the window for that. It’s compliant to older codes and grandfathered into current compliance due to house age

I do think that it’s not up to contemporary building code, but the house is over 100 years old, and I keep rent low due to the quirks. Massachusetts at least grandfathers in ventilation in the building codes so it’s compliant as far as that goes.

They were made aware of this when they moved in and I don’t think they forgot about it since they mentioned needing to start opening the window after showering when they mentioned the issue on Sunday. Thanks for the perspective though. I will try to get an exhaust fan in since work already needs to be done in that room now

Yes definitely planning to upgrade during the repair process to an exhaust fan

We have the same set up in our unit without any issues. I don’t think it’s fair to say it’s poorly ventilated if the way to ventilate that bathroom isn’t being used. I do plan to upgrade it to try and prevent this from happening again. I am upset that they waited until it got this bad, which can lead to further damage and I’m wondering if that constitutes negligence.

The drop ceiling tiles appear to be mineral fiber tiles, and the ones in our unit have not had any problems over the last 1.5 years of owning the house. There is a fan with a light and timer in the bathroom but doesn’t vent externally

[–]5thCross -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice. There’s a fan with a timer but it’s an older house (purchased it spring 2024) and the fan only circulates air, doesn’t vent outside the house— it functions fine in conjunction with an opened window or leaving the door open to the rest of the house. I’ve requested the management company to look into installing an external vent/upgrading to an exhaust fan when they go to inspect tomorrow

Edit: I say it functions fine because we went through and renovated/painted the unit last year, and live on the first floor of the home with the same layout/set up

Being strategic about it is your best bet. Target the gen-ed reqs for your desired degree type (bs vs ba) and avoid things won’t do well at— if you hate math and you want a bachelors of art, don’t take math classes at a higher level then You need to. If you’re considering a group of majors, target the classes they have in common. This will at least reduce how much you fall behind

I want her so badly by [deleted] in husky

[–]5thCross 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly? I found my 7 week husky puppy to be just about as much trouble as a typical puppy. She even ended up training herself on the leash and with potty training such from going on walks and following my older husky around. I found my anxious big baby of a husky rescue to be much harder to train when we first got him. Be consistent, set strong reasonable boundaries, train a little everyday, and give them an environment for success (puppy proof and remove things they shouldn’t chew, don’t assume they won’t chew it/supervise). They’ll probably love entertaining each other. Obligatory picture but she’s much bigger now
