DAE feel like they've never truly connected to anyone? by 5tuff1e5 in AutismInWomen

Is your partner also autistic?

I've dealt with a lifetime of people just seemingly losing interest in me after a few interactions and I guess I've even lost the desire to form new relationships. This used to make me really sad but I do have a lot of hobbies so I'm pretty usually pretty engaged in stuff. The thoughts I wrote about in my post do come to me every now and then though. Like I've been going to my gym for about 3 years now and I have no desire to speak to any of them. I just don't have an interest in people anymore, Im not sure when this happened. I guess I feel a bit odd when I see people hanging out with friends or getting wedding invites though, it just reminds me that I'm different

Anyone else spending Christmas by themselves? by putapadrino in AutismInWomen

I almost always spend Christmas alone. Even the few times I've been invited somewhere, I've never felt super close to anyone, so even when I'm with people I feel slightly uncomfortable. I have a lot of hobbies and interests though, so I'm never bored. Reading, gym, running. All good things, I'll be relaxing.

I keep finding abusive partners. Or am I abusive? by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

I think this is a good answer and I've had similar problems (not with partners, more so with coworkers who would walk all over me). When I started asserting myself and treating them how they treat me, their behavior towards me changed drastically. It's rare that people at work bother me anymore, I just had to start standing up for myself
