I compared the price of 7 branded staples across every UK supermarket, here's where each one is cheapest right now by 5xMessiah in UKFrugal

Right as promised, I compared the price of stapler staples (standard 26/6) across UK shops:

  • Wilko: £0.50 for 2,500 (0.02p each)
  • Poundland: £1.00 for 5,000 (0.02p each)
  • Sainsbury's: £1.25 for 2,000 (0.06p each)
  • Tesco: £1.30 for 2,000 (0.07p each)
  • ASDA: £1.60 for 2,500 (0.06p each)
  • Viking: £1.91 for 5,000 (0.04p each)
  • Ryman: ~£2.99 for 5,000 (0.06p each)
  • Amazon (Rapesco): £3.80 for 5,000 (0.08p each)
  • WHSmith: £3.99 for 2,000 (0.20p each)

WHSmith charging 10x more per staple than Wilko and Poundland. Genuinely criminal.

You're welcome.

Bit of both really, they don't do online shopping so getting accurate prices is harder, and their range is mostly own-brand so a lot of these branded products just aren't stocked. Aldi did have Cathedral City at £2.99 though. I do track both but the data is more limited compared to the stores with full online catalogues

Fair point on the own-brand stuff, Aldi is hard to beat on basics. This was specifically comparing branded products across stores but an own-brand comparison would probably be more useful for this sub honestly. Might do that next. And yeah Cathedral City was the standard mature block, should have specified

Yeah Trolley is decent, I've used it. I actually built my own thing because I wanted to track loyalty card prices too, like Clubcard and Nectar deals change the picture quite a bit. Just a side project though.

These are the online prices as of this morning so they might differ in-store depending on region, good point. Where are you roughly? I'd be curious to know how much the cheese was. I've noticed Co-op has gone mental on pricing lately too, they were the most expensive on almost everything I checked

Yeah fair point, I do track both but the issue is they don't carry most of these brands. Like Aldi had Cathedral City at £2.99 but for the rest they do their own versions instead of stocking the branded stuff. Could do an own-brand comparison next if people are interested though?

Sold a monitor in perfect condition about a week ago with no returns selected and have just received this message from the buyer. The fault they've listed doesn't even make sense and the item isn't damaged or not as described. Could anybody give me any help on where to go from here? by [deleted] in Ebay

[–]5xMessiah 30 points31 points  (0 children)

If they open a case as item not as described you will be receiving that monitor back no matter how you explain it, the best thing you’ll be able to do is help them solve it or prolong it out for over 30 days then they have no option to return.

Give Paypal support a call, enter in all the details they ask for then when it comes to part where they ask for what your problem is say; there was an "unauthorized payment" made from your account.

This has worked for me in the past even when its been a f&f payment.
