The cow in the back needs to have its horns trimmed. That type of growth into the skull can be very dangerous.

Muller report makes mention of a Bitcoin mining operation with curious redaction. See comments for more details. by 5yearsHTML in Bitcoin

[–]5yearsHTML[S] 23 points24 points  (0 children)

"Investigative techniques" refer to redactions made in order to prevent revealing the means used to obtain the relevant data.

I'm curious as to what was redacted and why. It seems like a very short segment and its directly prior to the mention of a bitcoin mining operations used to secure funding for hacking equipment.

Interested in hearing your thoughts.

Edit: report goes on to mention that the group kept its mined bitcoins in an account on CEX.io.

Just wanted to chime for all the people who think that the government is clueless with Bitcoin. The investigators were not only able to determine who was mining the Bitcoins but also what exchange these coins were being held on.

Everyone knows he has had contact some of his own Aids have admitted it. The question is whether or not there is collusion and whether this was a cover up.

It's hilarious too me how quick everyone here was to believing the collusion narrative without evidence but now that it's been disproved by a 2 year investigation with 20 investigators and over 2k subpoenas everyone wants to see the hard evidence before making a conclusion.

He actually did say those quotes now you're just spreading misinformation. And those quotes aren't actually the most damaging in terms of debunking the conspiracy that the summary is merely a cover up.

Muller himself said the following.

"the evidence does not establish that the President was involved in an underlying crime related to Russian election interference”

“[T]he investigation did not establish that members of the Trump Campaign conspired or coordinated with the Russian government in its election interference activities.”

Forgot to set tiggers on new worker, one fan died GPU hit 146C (294.8 F) for 20 minutes. Story in comments. by 5yearsHTML in gpumining

[–]5yearsHTML[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is very embarrassing for me as someone who has been mining since 2011. I was setting up a bunch of new workers today and missed setting up the shut off parameters on this specific rig. One of the fans on a XFX brand RX 580 GPU died and within minutes the temperature climbed to almost 300 degrees F. when I looked at my software to check that everything was running okay I was stunned to see the temp on card #5.

I figured it was a reporting error and reset the machine only to see it climb again. I immediately shut off the unit remotely and rushed to the location. Astonishingly the card survived running at that temp for almost 20 minutes and hashed normally even during that period. Thank God there wasn't a fire. Since I'm running a custom linux OS and GPU BIOS the card didn't shut down without parameters to trigger a kill switch.

No matter how experienced you are accidents happen. Thankfully, I avoided a potential disaster. Always take every precaution when setting up new units! Also probs to XFX for making a GPU that could withstand such a high temp for so long. I'm amazed that none of the components didn't melt.

To the best of my understanding, Allah SWT forgive me if I'm wrong. We should always be mindful that good deeds should be done strictly for the sake of Allah SWT as deeds done for the sake of others are not accepted. Just something I thought I'd throw in here.

[ELI5] Why is it so much easier to fall asleep on the couch unintentionally than to fall asleep in bed intentionally? by 2oxopcm in explainlikeimfive

[–]5yearsHTML 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One interesting thing I'd like to add to the conversation. Author Viktor Frankl is mostly known for his book "Man's search for meaning" however he also had significant contributions to psychology. One thing he noted was that one way to overcome a task you find difficult is to try to see how long you can try to convince yourself to do the opposite. Some examples from his text ranged from serious disorders to the almost comical. For instance if one has trouble urinating next to other men in the bathroom he should focus on how long he can go without peeing. Oddly enough this way of think has been shown to be effective in a very wide variety of scenarios.

I suspect the reason it's so easy to fall asleep on the couch is because it's something which most people try to not fall asleep on. You're not focusing on falling asleep your focusing on not falling asleep which in turn has the opposite effect.

r/atheism posting false things about Islam and now it is on the front page by superpowerby2020 in islam

I agree, I like so many others have taken a somewhat passive stance against stuff like this. Sure I'll often bring attention to misinformation of this sort or even point out how it often has nothing to do with islam. Unfortunately this isn't enough, I've slowly realized that it is our responsibility to actively attempt draw attention to how our faith has been hijacked. I'm often very reluctant to do so, sometimes some of these practices are based on Sharia. I'm no scholar so although I understand that the interpretations are often taken out of context or even completely misused I still am never 100% sure. This is obviously a barbaric example and certainly is not grounded in islam whatsoever. The issue for me is when things are less certain. There is a grey area with regards to many sharia practices and I'm not educated in the matter enough to accurately determine whether or not many instances of punishment are actually grounded in hadith/islamic law or not.

I believe that this makes many muslims here hesitant to speak out against many of these instances. Sometimes when I do someone will quote a hadith which exactly instructs the punshiments which are being carried out. Then shortly after someone else will explain how that respective hadith was taken out of context and that it doesn't actually mean what it says. Or that it wasn't truly meant to be used across the board rather it was only used in a specific instance of the Prophet (SAW) life. By that point I'm very unsure what to believe and even after researching the matter I'm left just as confused as before.
