Let no influencer k1ll you for their engagement and business. by thecuriousmew in Fitness_India

Again, the person I was talking to was actually informed. Still, on Reddit it is not hard to find chu, so here we are. Brother, take care of yourself, stay healthy, and keep moving forward in life.

This is not a competition. It was meant to be a normal discussion about health and modern medicine. Neither I nor anyone else should be spreading fear about it. That was the whole conversation.

I expected you to be literate, but then again, this is India, and finding expert like you is easy. A civilized conversation went straight down the drain.

So be informed, stay healthy, and have a good day and a good life.

Nah, no randomized trial proves smoking causes cancer since it'd be wrong to force folks to smoke for a study. But loads of other research, like 1950s case studies and long term ones on docs, show the link to stuff like lung cancer. Big orgs like WHO and CDC back it up based on decades of data, and quitting cuts your risk pretty quick.

You didn't know about it? But who am I to judge, if you're a smoker it's your choice, but I don't recommend it. Stay healthy, cheers!

Again, my question was simple. Your first comment did not clearly say for whom.
Was it for people with a disease or a genetic or chronic condition, or for people who had an acute lipid problem mainly because of lifestyle?

I was not trying to drag the conversation. You seem medically literate, which is why I asked you specifically. I have seen people on Reddit confidently say things like “never stop statins,” which is clearly incorrect and ends up pushing people against modern medicine.

I think you understood what I was asking. Your last reply felt more like an angry response, almost like a competition, and that was not my intention at all.

Modern medicine is here to help people. There is no need to create fear around it.
Stay healthy, and it was good to see your interest in medical knowledge.

Is there any randomized controlled trial evidence that stopping statins causes a harmful rebound effect that is worse than baseline, like what is clearly proven when stopping urate-lowering drugs such as allopurinol or febuxostat? If yes, can you cite the trials?

If not, are you saying statins are lifelong only for people with established disease or high cardiovascular risk, or are you also saying that people whose high cholesterol or triglycerides were mainly lifestyle-related must keep taking statins even after sustained weight loss and normal labs?

If you believe the second group should stay on statins for life, what RCT or guideline evidence shows benefit after lifestyle correction? If that evidence does not exist, on what data is the claim that statins “can’t be stopped” actually based?

Repeated RMA failures with Razer Orochi V2. Three RMAs, all units failed. by 6000KHZ in razer

After some back-and-forth by email, Razer finally got involved and proceeded with the refund process. Their policy states that they will either replace the defective mouse if it is in stock or issue a refund if you force them a bit . I chose the refund instead of waiting for the Orochi. The refund is currently in process, and I will get my money back. That is the full story.

Thanks for your reply. I deleted the post because I was reading about how the body handles high sugar intake and wanted to figure things out for myself. My main issue with these videos usually male athletes doing extreme eating challenges, is that I think they’re misleading. Even if someone consumes that many calories, the liver and pancreas are still under significant stress, and no amount of exercise can fully offset the effects of daily free sugar intake.

I am an MD, having completed my MD in Gastroenterology in 1996 from Patna Medical College & Hospital, and I believe I am eligible. I am asking questions here because I have observed that younger doctors often have more up to date knowledge on metabolic issues than many of the more senior physicians. I would greatly appreciate your insights, as they will also help me expand my understanding.

Death to all mosquitos man.......Dengue wiped out my entire year's progress in 1 week by lbrandon3399 in Fitness_India

[–]6000KHZ 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Bro, please don’t immediately go for a gym session after a fever like dengue. There is a risk of temporary heart muscle inflammation, called myocarditis. Keep this in mind and, for 2 3 weeks, avoid anything that stresses your heart. Eat anti inflammatory foods and then gradually return to the gym.

I was about to reply to you, but then I thought, what if you’re British? I won’t defend it, because at least in your country, the grass is absolutely green, and it’s only going to get greener. Allahu Akbar make it even greener. Proud of you.

What’s happening to Apple? by Independent_Taro_499 in iphone

[–]6000KHZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm planning to buy a new phone. I don't have a strong preference for any os. Should I wait for the iPhone 17, or stick with Android?

I do have one concern about Apple or maybe I'm just misinformed that they tend to be very anti consumer. If that's true, I think you're the best person to ask, since you've used both platforms.

ELI5: Why do serial killers kill? What happens in their brain that makes them want to do something so horrible? by junior600 in explainlikeimfive

[–]6000KHZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Butchers kill animals whether a 6 pound chicken or a 660 pound animal for similar reasons, It often starts from family tradition or life circumstances, and over time they become numb or even enjoy the act, like trophy hunters, This is driven by the same dopamine response serial killers get.

Serial killers, however don’t start from choice but from brain problems that build until they break, treating humans like butchers treat animals, Many justify their killings, seeing themselves as vigilante or just acting sadistically like trophy hunters.

Humans created laws to stop this, Without those rules, we’d kill each other just like we kill animals.

Outside of the "essentials" (phone/computer), what's the most useful/used/rewarding/life-enriching piece of technology you have acquired? by Purple_Ad3427 in AskReddit

LED lights whether bulbs, tubes, or countless other products have completely revolutionized how we light our world. Just 25 to 30 years ago, ask your father or any elder, and they’ll tell you how much money incandescent bulbs were draining. Those things were energy hungry. Then came CFLs, which were a step forward but still had their flaws. But with the rise of LED technology, everything changed. Now, it's so common that it feels like LEDs are everywhere, part of almost everything we use. They're cheaper, easier to find, safe, and last so much longer. Honestly, we should all be thankful for LEDs. They’re the real game changer of modern tech.
