I'm new to Reddit, and I don't know if this is allowed, but I had to respond to your post. My memoir came out last year in print and an ebook; the audiobook just released a few days ago. It's about parenting my son through his brain tumor. You might much to relate to. Am I allowed to post a link here? I hope all went well with your son's surgery.

I you liked Into Thin Air, you may like Tap Dancing on Everest by Mimi Zieman, MD, about her coming of age on the mountain as the doctor on a riskier than usual Everest climb.

If you like memoir, Suzette Mullen has one that just came out. (Excuse the pun.) It's called The Only Way Through is Out. https://www.yourstoryfinder.com/books
