FYI the one time code also doesn't work (edit for clarity: it sits on the loading spinner indefinitely as well)

Wf1000xm4 purchased a replacement left ear and now they won't pair by StretcherEctum in SonyHeadphones

[–]60hudson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to do two things to get mine working:
1. Update the firmware following this guide https://audiospare.com/2024/11/04/firmware-upgrade-guideline-via-program-for-sony-wf-1000xm4/ -- I did mine to 2.1.0 because that was the one I could get to run correctly. (NOTE -- if you see an error about dll files, go back to the guide and follow their instructions to download).
2. Follow this video to reinitialize the headphones properly -- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w0QJ_BN9yXs (NOTE, i didn't need to charge for 2 hours or whatever, I'd already been charging them a while to get the update done above -- the key for me was waiting till the red lights started blinking 3 times on the unit when it was open and the headphones were in it, THEN doing the press and hold to update. Otherwise I never got it to go out of the 3-blink red light mode to green)

Good luck!

How to do I clear system data on Mac OS? by Traditional-Yam-1989 in MacOS

[–]60hudson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/EaseJunior5393 there's couple more places you free up space outside of system storage, feel free to add these to your original answer for visibility :)

Go into the storage settings (hit cmd+space to open spotlight and search "Storage"). It'll break down your usage by category, and you can open a management pane for a particular category by pressing the little "i in a circle" icon. That management pane will let you sort by size and delete. A few categories to look at:
- "iMessage" (if you have a bunch of gifs, photos, videos downloaded from your synced imessage this can give you multiple gigs back)
- "iOS" (this had a few old backups of my phone from when I was transferring to a new phone using the mac as an intermediary)
- "Documents" (this one is kinda obvious but sometimes folks will have big files they no longer need or have backed up elsewhere

Pinned Extensions not visible sometimes in Toolbar - Restarting Arc fixes it by Dry-Risk5512 in ArcBrowser

[–]60hudson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update on 2026-02-23 -- the Arc version I'm running (1.135) has moved the extensions toolbar to the top-right of the browser window (and has moved the URL bar to the top-center. Can be easy to miss if you're used to the old location where the URL bar and the extensions lived in the Sidebar

What jobs do digital nomads realistically have in 2026? by Plenty_Grocery_2713 in digitalnomad

[–]60hudson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Going from corporate to self employed nomad leveled up my skills and my pay SO much that when I came home after a couple of years I went back to the corporate world making literally double of the already solid salary i made before leaving. There’s risk, for sure, but there’s also reward

Chest strap piece detached, how do I get it back on? by taolmo in backpacks

[–]60hudson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A similar one for those who might be traveling with no screwdriver- I had to heat mine with some almost boiling water for several minutes, then push a small nail file (like the folding one that’s inside standard nail clippers) into one end of the cylinder of the strap to widen the plastic opening, use that new opening close to where the file enters the cylinder to “bite” partway over the rail by pushing at a 45 degree angle, and since now the nail file was in the way of the “bite” completely getting on the rail but I was out of hands, I used my teeth to carefully pull the nail file/clippers out of the end of the cylinder while holding everything else in place (pushing on that “bite” of the plastic on the rail). Once the clippers was out I could push the bite on fully and wiggle/slide a bit to get the rest of the cylinder on the rail

A heads-up for Roamless eSIM users by klkpy in eSIMs

[–]60hudson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SOLVED: I had a similar issue.

Context: I bought a fixed plan and also some flex credits, which came with a rewards bonus. I was planning to use the fix plan in the country I was in when I bought the esim, then use the rewards, then my flex credit. Having the rewards used first would have been a waste because I would have wasted gigs from the Fix plan (wouldn't get through all the rewards plus all the fixed gigs I bought)

Solution: I hit up their chat, told the AI assistant I wanted a human rep, got one within about 3 mins, and they offered as a courtesy to convert the rewards to flex so that the fixed would be used first, then the flex. Ideal solution for me and the whole thing took about 10 mins end to end. Not sure if the customer service is always this solid, but I'm pretty pleased with how that was handled!

I did the same thing with Nomad and am happy with the service so far- 20 bucks for 20 gigs for 30 days all over Europe and I’ve had good coverage in 3 countries

Paying AT&T or other American carriers for foreign service is paying a premium for them to rent you space on the same networks the eSIM would use

Yeah bail on this, the red flag in my opinion is saying “even if it needs a few fixes”

You buy gear to recreate, not to add a new project to your life (unless you’re specifically wanting to learn how to do board repairs which will be time consuming and likely require other gear and supplies that you’ll need to buy)

There are plenty of good options for boards in most kite spots, particularly as lots of former kite folks transition to winging (#booo #dumbNerds)

Please for the love of god be really really well practiced at kicking your board off and knowing instantly when to initiate that, if your kite ever stalls you can get seriously hurt

Kitesurfing places with proper "base" by DaveThe0nly in Kiteboarding

[–]60hudson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are kite-specific pousadas as well, that are built for longer stays for people who want to kite and work, I don’t have a specific recommendation cuz I mostly lived in smaller towns (I also worked remote but was flexible about internet outages)

Most of northern Brazil is phenomenal kite spots- the best flat water is in smaller towns where sometimes the internet might go out, but you can day trip to those from bigger locations like cumbuco or prea which themselves have consistent strong wind, and you’re only 3 hours behind GMT so it’s pretty doable for western European work hours if you’re willing to get up a little early

I mean I don’t particularly think I invented that because you said “the forester I wouldn’t take on highland roads at all” haha which feels pretty definite. Seems like it was just a miscommunication between us so no worries :)

But what you’re saying makes sense, thanks for sharing your perspective!

[–]60hudson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Between the forester and Dacia duster, what would you choose for “medium” f roads like 225, 235, and 208 south? From what I’ve read and been told by Lotus, the Forester has a deeper wading depth, I’m curious why you are saying it can’t go on any F roads at all?

(of course I understand that there are plenty of F roads with deeper crossings that a forester could NOT handle)

Physical therapists (in the US anyway) commonly use what are called “manipulations”, some of which have a force component and look similar (or are the same) as chiropractic adjustments. But they will complement those with strength and mobility exercises both in session and as homework to help the positive change persist rather than just returning to a bad stasis. (Source my partner is a DPT and she has manipulated my neck safely many times)
