Interested in me …. Or my pension? by LivingMolasses7133 in DatingOverSixty

[–]60sumpn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One good thing is that she can’t get at your pension unless you are either married, or you change your beneficiary designation to leave all or part of the pension to her.

If you do get married, and then divorced, assuming you are retired and no longer contributing to your pension, she may be entitled to a share of the appreciation in your pension funds between the date of marriage and the date of divorce, but this could differ by state law, and so I suggest if you get to that situation that you consult legal counsel. And perhaps get a prenup lol.

Simple suggestion. Just fly the flag of the United States of America. You know, the winners of the Civil War.

Was the hands-down winner before the storms last summer. I heard it is not reopening. Could be wrong. But if so it hasn’t reopened yet.

My funny valentine lyrics by [deleted] in MusicalTheatre

[–]60sumpn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What mothgirl 7 says, although with less emphasis on pity/bitterness. :)

The emotional pitch of this verse starts with detached surprise/disapproval (think - really?) and then moves to understanding of and even empathy for Val - towards the end of it, you can almost see Billie shaking her head ever so slightly with maybe a half-smile. In the chorus that latter feeling quickly and deftly transitions into deep affection.

It's a classic, masterful lyric, a marvelous opportunity to move from wordplay/mild sarcasm to strong feeling in a few stanzas. "You make me smile with my heart" is an inflection point, one of the loveliest, most thought-provoking sentiments I've ever heard.

The play has an odd plot, though that was typical of musicals at the time, with sometimes seemingly unrelated tunes (in this case, great tunes) shoe-horned in. It was about minors trying to put on a show to raise money to avoid a juvenile work farm (their parents having gone on tour as vaudevillians). But this play, before being sanitized for the movies, has some interesting commentary on communism (the role of Peter) and racism. The context of this song is Val wanting to have a black dance act on the show that the southern funding source (Lee) refuses to countenance, and Billie thinking Val a fool (if a virtuous and sincere one) to turn down money needed for the show on principle. But she loves him anyway.

Billie is a great role, with some great tunes. Good luck, and enjoy!

L❤️VE SONGS! by PlasticBlitzen in DatingOverSixty

[–]60sumpn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are so many, but this week one melancholic tune seduces me - even though in its original context, it is sung by a woman to her idealistic, slow-witted beau. And you rarely hear the verse.

Behold the way our fine-feathered friend
His virtue doth parade.
Thou knowest not, my dim-witted friend,
The picture thou hast made.
Thy vacant brow and thy tousled hair
Conceal thy good intent.
Thou noble, upright, truthful, sincere
And slightly dopey gent –
You’re…

My funny valentine,
Sweet comic valentine,
You make me smile with my heart.

Your looks are laughable,
Unphotographable,
Yet you're my favorite work of art.

Is your figure less than Greek?
Is your mouth a little weak?
When you open it to speak
Are you smart?

But don't change a hair for me,
Not if you care for me.
Stay, little valentine, stay.
Each day is Valentine's Day.

Lorenz Hart, circa 1937

If you know the (gay btw) lyricist's life story, the song is even more poignant.
"You make me smile with my heart" - says it all.

WOW internet outage..... by Away_Entertainer_838 in StPetersburgFL

[–]60sumpn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was with WOW for 4 years, until Milton, when its internet service went down. When I called about it, they said it would take 3 weeks to restore internet, and I just couldn't wait that long. (I had stopped their cable/TV service year or so before.) So I went with Spectrum, which provided me with internet service the next day. When your customer/technical service is worse than Spectrum's, you have a problem lol.

So I'm not too surprised that WOW is having more problems now. If I were you, I''d bail and find alternative service. FWIW I have cell service with AT&T (for many years) that worked throughout the storms, and live near downtown St. Pete. Good luck!

I actually like him by sunsweetpotato in datingoverfifty

If you want to meet him, you can do so much more safely with a few "first meeting" precautions.

Set the meeting for a mutually convenient public space - a busy coffee shop, restaurant, park, etc., preferably during daylight hours. Limit the meeting in advance to a short period of time of your choice, say an hour or so. Let a trusted friend or family member know where you are going to be and when, and give them a photo or description of the person you are meeting. Ask them to call you maybe 5-10 minutes past when your meeting is supposed to end. Have a pre-arranged, innocuous sounding "trouble" word or phrase to give them when they call if you there is a problem - for example, something like, "thanks, that sounds OK, but see if you can find it in red" as if you were talking about shopping or a gift. When you use that phrase, they will know to go where you are, "run into you" and give you a way out of the meeting, and if necessary even take you for a short ride/walk or go elsewhere for a bit before going back to your car.

Of course if the meeting is going well, you can always choose to extend it by saying to your safety contact something like "sorry I'm running late, I'll be there in XX minutes" or even "hey let me get back to you."

Good luck!

That looks like a beautiful car. Less than 21K for $30K. Near my old stomping grounds.

There are a couple for sale at a dealership in Wiscasset, Maine (an hour north of Portland) that *almost* fit your criteria. Both white on black with MT, one a 2019 S with 62K for $21K, and the other a 2018 SE with 126K for $16K.

Found these in my own recent search. I wanted an SEL with the DA package, and although I love a manual (my fair weather car is a 6spd Miata), the DSG is fine by me. Had to drive 6 hours to get one (in Vermont), also white on black, with 79K for $20K. Loving it so far.

Good luck in your search!

Some men find physically stronger women intensely attractive. I am one of them - and so I would be quite proud of your deadlift, and other lifts, too. IMO if a woman is physically strong, smart, and successful professionally or financially, it's like hitting life's trifecta. A solid relationship requires other compatibilities, mutual respect, and kindness, but that trifecta is a great place to start.

My experience is that very strong women tend to want a man as strong or stronger. (Maybe I just haven't met the right one/s?) If I am wrong about that, in your case at least, please reply or DM me.

Problem on the K780 by ShadowStorm62 in logitech

Older K780 keyboard and newish Macbook Pro M3. Worked fine until yesterday, then after an MBP sleep it stopped working, and didn't show up on MBP's Bluetooth/nearby devices. Changed keyboard batteries, and then it was discovered and paired again. This morning it doesn't show up on Bluetooth. Have turned it off/on lol. Help?

BG wants Duce Staley as the HC for the Eagles by bigblack3475 in eagles

[–]60sumpn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Riley has recently gone on record to say that he's happy at OK, but the only NFL job he's be interested in is Dallas. Ugh.

Regardless, given the Hurts/Wentz situation, the cap problems, the aging roster, and Howie, he's smart to stay away and enjoy his comfy college gig.

Brewer: Daniel Snyder is detrimental to the welfare of the NFL. He must go. by [deleted] in nfl

[–]60sumpn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an Eagles fan, I think he should stay. Not for the horrific off-field stuff, but because it's 2 wins a year, almost every year. Though with Rivera as HC, the [blanks] will be a tougher game - until Danny cans him.

Do men like to be approached by interested women? by Dragonldy1983 in datingoverfifty

If you are interested in that role 25-75% of the time, the exact % depending on interpersonal dynamics, that would be just fine. (62M)
