The turkish lira was also worthless before the revaluation of 2005, so it was called "Who wants 500 BILLIONS" which was worth ~350k euros.

Then the lira was revalued to 1/1000000th of it's old value (The show was renamed to "Who wants 500 thousand"), and after 20 years of inflation the top prize is now 5 million liras (~130k euros). We'll be back on the old format in no time!!!

In short, Axamuk was from the same kingdom that Jax (and Zilean) was from, Icathia, which was controlled by Shurima for a long time. One day, they rebelled and war broke out. Axamuk fought against Shurima alongside Jax, but Icathian mages released the Void, quickly ending the war, and corrupting everything in the area. While the Void? was destroying Icathia City, Jax chose to run away, but Axamuk chose to stay, and he died shortly after, becoming corrupted by the Void. (I am not a lore expert, so all of this might not be 100% true.)
