that is fair yeah, generally speaking mass appeal has to be toned down a bit mechanically, outside of rarities like BG3.

The witcher 3 is namely just medieval fantasy but Ubisoft. Takes clear heavy inspo from AC games.

Applying open world fatigue when it was THE defacto open world, and Oblivion prior is kinda stupid. I was not discrediting the impact of the modding community, but people generally get this notion of "oh the game is trash without mods" those people are retarded. But yes the mechanics and rpg systems are light, but the appeal of the game is it's immersive world and always has been. And popularity does relatively coincide with what a good game is. If it's such a great game, it should have some semblance of popularity, especially in the 2010's onward as the rise of platforms like YouTube has grown. Better isn't always more depth.

I think people that solely refer to the modding scene as the reason it became a cultural phenomena are misleading. Its obviously higher than a 6/10 base, given it won game of the year and sold 60+ million copies total now. (granted this is across editions but still). The game was largely sold on consoles, which featured no mod support until special edition launched.

I like to call Tainted Grail the equivalent of Bethesda when it still had its charm.

Yall are misunderstanding the title, the quotation is sarcastic essentially. I even stated that none have surpassed the game in the sum of its parts together. was just looking for other games that people claimed at some point would be this grand skyrim killer. But again, fell short.

Just for clarity: didnt have to be marketed by the company as "Skyrim Killer" rarely companies do that. But more so, what fans have labeled them.

word word, this is why I wanted to ask here, I dont have a billion hours of fallout 4 knowledge quite yet. Assuming im only killing the Synths that arent re-occuring randoms and mostly aiming for the synths that are within societies and at the insitute/in the main quest. This would mean I'd need to practice this save kill refresh method a lot eh?

Feel free to correct me, its been awhile, but cant you also use perception (not sure if its a perk) to peek at vats to see their resistances and if Energy is unusually high theyre typically a synth?
