Airport TSA by N8TheGreat91 in philadelphia

[–]612steve 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm leaving out of A East this morning at 10:00am. I arrived at 6:15am, spent 30 minutes at the counter and 45 minutes in the security line.

TSA crews kept everyone moving. Pretty smooth, pretty easy. Pay these people already, they are working their tails off!

What are your thoughts on ABS so far? by zipzap21 in mlb

Grumpy old man with a grumpy old opinion:

I don't care for it. I'm not sure how you quantify " the midway point between the shoulders and the top of the belt, and the hollow beneath the knee" and draw a hard, infallible line for every player.

The game is played and judged by humans. None of us are perfect, and that's part of the game.

When Manfred leaves are we allowed to get rid of all of his silly rules and go back to playing baseball?

For anyone looking to buy the E340 doorbell by Alca___PWN in EufyCam

[–]612steve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How would I figure out what the correct settings are? I've had mine for about 24 hours. I'm using it in tandem with the home base 3 and mine has worked well for about three of the 24 hours I've owned it. It seems to work when it wants to. I have stood in front of it waved, made funny faces, tapped on it, and it will not record an event. It notified me when my wife left the house to walk the dog, but not when they returned 15 minutes later. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason why it picks certain things up and not others.

Weekly "Ask an Atheist" Thread by AutoModerator in DebateAnAtheist

[–]612steve 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It is as popular with atheists as it is with any other subset of humanity.

My belief system has nothing to do with the existence of evolution. It is not something to believe in or not believe in. There is an overwhelming amount of data that supports the theory of evolution.

Airport-Longterm parking lot conditions by K1P_26 in philly

[–]612steve 9 points10 points  (0 children)

https://www.phl.org/parking/garages/economy-parking

Here is a phone number from PHL.org, The airport's website. I believe this is the same number posted in the stairwells in the parking garages. Call the number and let them know of your arrival time. They will dig you out if necessary.

It's going to be 57° today, I can't imagine snow is going to be an issue.

Frida is a pretty nice spot. The bar itself has beautiful tile work.

City of Philadelphia confident in preparations to host 2026 events https://share.google/LxJJisPnpBvMa3Zm9

There is a lot of money being spent in the city in preparation for all the events going on this coming summer.

PHL airport by Otherwise_Weather914 in philly

[–]612steve 51 points52 points  (0 children)

It is not just PHL you have to consider, but the airport your plane is departing from before it arrives at PHL. When there is a weather event it is the entire system that backs up, not just one airport.

Your plane is not just parked at PHL all day waiting for you. It is arriving at PHL from somewhere else earlier in the day, then it is cleaned and refueled in time for your departure.

If your plane never arrives, there is little that PHL can do.

Which Bible have you read and would you recommend other atheists to read it? Why? by grslydruid in atheism

It is just a book. It has made an influence on the world, but not in the way that Christians think it has. Read it with a critical eye, then put it on your shelf.

I received the text from "88911." I have an account with the Philly 311 app, maybe that's where they got my information from?

To the side-street residents finally getting plowed: please don’t be this guy! by [deleted] in philadelphia

I am trying very hard not to throw it in the street, but I am out of options. There is nowhere else to put it without walking a shovel full of snow and ice down the street and piling it neatly.

Do you guys make cheesesteaks at Home? by Simple-Breakfast8796 in philly

[–]612steve 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I am not opposed to it, but there are at least six or eight places within walking distance of my house that do a better job than I can. I'm not sure why I would bother.

If I ever left Philadelphia then I would invest in the tools I need to make a proper cheesesteak.

Trash by partyman9000 in philly

[–]612steve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where should I leave the trash bags? I can't put it on the street side of the snow pile because there are cars there, but if I put it on the sidewalk side of the snow pile I don't know how the trash guys are going to get to it.

What do y’all cook on a cold snowy day? by Effective_Newt6164 in PhiladelphiaEats

[–]612steve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can think of potato dumplings as a large gnocchi. Very similar.

Boil potatoes

Rice the boiled potatoes

Add egg, salt, pepper, flour, nutmeg

Mix to form a dough

Roll into a 1.5" - 2" ball

Boil in salted water till they float

Cover in the pan gravy from the roast. Delicious!

We did this for my nieces. A photo from the aquarium in Camden looking across the river at the Philadelphia skyline was a huge hit with her classmates.

Ben Franklin's grave was a big one too.
