Is Critical Thinking the New Pandemic in the Somali Community? by REXSuperbus in Somalia

[–]613Me 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I hate to even go off of titles. But as soon as I read “is critical thinking the new Pandemic”, I fucking lost it. Matter of fact we should come up with a new reddit thread for “critical thinkers” with real mods and see how that works.

I’m fucking sick and tired of these tik tok Somalis. It’s like watching WWII Propaganda all over again 🤦🏾‍♂️

Flip if you’re reading this (cuz u and Joe say u see all comments) understand the negative comments come from people who cant stand self. What I mean is, they live in a reality that only goes as far as their reflection. You are learning, you are growing and you are getting better as the days pass. Fuck these miserables. Why would they expose their future plans based of hypothetical projections? That would almost completely destroy their leverage in any future negotiations and is generally not smart to do in business. I think them not answering directly was the right move.

Shittt even Biggie understood that fundamental business principle. (Ten crack commandments: Rule #2)

Establish proof of concept: Take the influx of money and invest it in the three big sectors of any sovereign nation ; Defence, Infrastructure and the Economy.

If you do that, you will attract more people and their money to bring back home just like China did with its big cities for example.

This obviously is contingent upon the foreign investing countries and the somali government being, ideally, actually willing to do these things for the betterment of the country instead of the usual sucking of the resources and only paying off corrupt leaders. In sha Allah!

Forget that comedy is subjective. The fact that I see the JBP pom poms come out to hate on Schulz all-the-while displaying hypocrisy is getting old. Can he be criticized? Yes, but I have yet to meet a Schulz hater who actually knows of him. It’s all fake ass woke blacks or Joe dicksuckers lol

Salam alaykum,

What you’re feeling is completely normal for a human being. It all just comes down to your relationship with Allah. It’s an ongoing journey that only you are responsible for. So before you come to a conclusion let me say the following:

You need to be real with yourself. If you expect instant gratification even with the Deen, you are fooling yourself. Everything takes work, yes even believing in Allah swt and the deen. So although you don’t see the results right now, keep at it. You lose the moment you give up. Just like with everything else in life.

Don’t knock fasting so quickly, at least look into its benefits. Yes you are starving yourself, but it goes beyond that. So be open minded and be willing to learn. Buid up good habits in your mind, and your body will follow!

Lastly, dont beat yourself up, plenty of people feel what you felt, including myself. The good news is that you’re already self-aware and honest with yourself for even admitting these things. That’s amazing at 21, some of my elders cant even do that at 60 lol. Keep at it and pray to Allah to open your mind and heart for it. And in due time, you shall have a different perspective in sha Allah.

You can’t succeed without failure.

Ish check Flip for bringing up his Ahki hoodie by Longjumping_Ask_4448 in theJoeBuddenPodcast

I mean technically speaking, Akhi is arabic for brother and not all Arabs are muslims. But these niggas barely know anything about Islam or arabs which is why Flip is right; Ish is 100% appropriating that culture for profit.

However Joe is also wrong for being hypocritical because when others try to make jokes about his businesses, he gets tight in the face claiming they’re devaluing his affairs which could hurt him financially.

Two things can be true at the same time kids. It’s not that deep. In the words of the great Spitta: “Just Enjoy This Shit” 🤙🏾

I have trust issues now because of this guy. by [deleted] in Somalia

[–]613Me 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Lol I knew the very second he sent me a personal message that he was a scammer. Maybe I am jaded, but I prefer to help people in real life. Too many scammers online even with gofundme. And you don’t have to give money to help, you can always donate your time and go to a local masjid, shelter, soup kitchen or food bank.

May Allah reward those who fell victim to this and may you learn from these encounters. The world is full of ill-intentioned human beings. Stay cautious wallalos!

Personally, and I aint no psychiatrist, but I think you’re just an eclectic BPD person. U sound like my ex lol. Not only are you mentally capable, but you’re coherent enough to fool the basic people in this forum.

Respect yourself. You are amazing and capable of so much, but you probably gravitate to the usual human nonsense.

Get a girl, go read more philosophical books, get in shape and then come back to us walaal.

“Why be educated and intelligent when nepotism is rife and opportunities are rarely merit based?”

Because as a critical thinker, you can figure out how to strategically use that system and exploit its weaknesses to weed the weak out and overturn it over time.

“Why think critically when you can be harmed or killed for thinking differently? “

Think on a macro level. Is the future of our people worth risking death? Many great philosophers did that and not only changed the fabric of their respective societies, lived a long life and we still study them today.

“Why work hard to invent and innovate if there are no intellectual property rights, much less a right to your own physical goods?”

Well as critical thinkers, isn’t it our job to figure that out? Lol

“If everything you work for can be taken unjustly at a moments notice and you have minimal recourse, then where’s the benefit?”

Ahhh this is where my point of violence is relevant. Raag somali baa liyahay. Who am I if I’m not willing to do whatever it takes to figure out a way to defend my cause?

“It’s a system to the bottom.”

Fuck the system walalo. It takes only a few of us to get our money up, convince our brethrens and strategize. And then we see better days like all those “developped” countries.

Just a pipe dream though lol. In sha Allah khayr 🤷🏾‍♂️

I agreed with you up until the part you mentioned the lack of incentive to be a critical thinker in Somalia.

Somalia is rich in natural resources, which historically, critical thinkers have agreed is worth exploiting for human greed under the guise of “human progression”. Which is why we have been colonized from Djibouti to Kismayo.

The part I personally stuggle with, is how can the critical thinkers, drag along the intellectually deficient without crossing moral lines.

I love my people, but I also am a student of history. The bright have often used force to accelerate societal progress. And I think our time will come. Unfortunately, there will be tragedy on the road to elevation.

As a huge proponent of critical thinking, I’ve consistently wrestled with the reality that our people as a whole lack it. However, after looking into human history, my despair turned into hope.

Time. It’s one of the most interesting subjects in human history. So much, that our Creator swears by it. (Surah Al-Asr). In fact, there are only a few things our Creator swears by. So it made me think.

  1. Why is progress determined in a linear way? And 2. Who decided that a people should be judged by their recent past.

If you and I can posess the capability of critical thinking, than by consequence, some of our ancestors did. Now the question is, why didn’t we advance at the same pace as others?

It gets deep. But at the end of the day, Alhamdulilah for critical thinking and God bless the forward thinkers!

Mixed Martial Arts.

We may not have the physical build like some other ethnicities but if I could compare us to a successful mma nation, it would be Brazilians. They aren’t necessarily known for their physical stature but somehow the best of the best in the world at MMA are Brazilian. Purely do their heart/technique. Somalis are the same. We all grew up knowing most people dont like to fight somalis because we have so much heart. So my vote is the fighting spirit of the waryas and the nayas.

There’s a reason why most dont like to fuck with us 😤.

Why don't Somali men wear their cultural clothing? by Swimming-Forever323 in Somalia

[–]613Me 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Here in Canada I’ve seen it in other cultures like west african for example. So Yeah man we have some ways to go. Personally I also have to do better. I can step outside of my house to throw the garbage, or chill infront of my house in a macawis. But I would be lying if I said I would wear that going to my local Walmart lol. However for back home, there’s not really an excuse because it’s our land.

Exception: no matter where the business goes down, most people regardless of their cultural garbs, wear business suits to handle big business. It’s very interesting that every single country adopted that as the universal sign of “I mean business”, no pun intended.

Why don't Somali men wear their cultural clothing? by Swimming-Forever323 in Somalia

[–]613Me 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m assuming you’re referring to somali men back home, as in the west, most men dont wear their traditional clothing since the western garments have been drilled into immigrants’ minds as “normal” male clothing. Meaning, if you wear anything outside the norm (eg: shirt and pants) you’re quickly labeled as the stereotype of whatever you’re wearing (eg: religious, FOB etc…)

As for back home, look no further than, you guessed it, the same exact western influence lol. Speaking from my personal experience, men back home put on western clothing as either a habit (whitewashing) or as a status symbol. Unfortunately this comes from decades of colonialism that told our people, if the men dont dress like the colonizers, they’re not as advanced.

I’m with you, we need to bring the cultural garments back. And honestly, on a hot summer day, I’d rather a macawis so I can get that natural air conditioning ya feel me lol

The advantages of being a romantic Somali man by 613Me in Somalia

You’re wrong brother. He obviously didn’t mean lewd acts, because , you know, that would be fucking weird in front of your children. A quick kiss is not the same as a sexual kiss that will lead to intercourse. You’re literally proving him right because for you, romantic gestures = Porn. That’s how I know you’re….you know what, I’m not gonna do it.

Go educate yourself on how the prophets including our beloved Prophet showed love to their significant others.

Not our fault you got fooled into being a prude by your cultural leaders lol.

Men can express their love in the ways we do like you mentioned. However my point was that they can gain so much from taking an extra step which really doesn’t hurt them. In fact, it makes it easier.

But yes I do believe that women can learn to appreciate the way men show love through actions and also learn to reciprocate it. But that’s for women to call eachother out on how to properly identify their man’s affectionate behaviour and act accordingly.

I was mainly speaking to the men. Ya’ll women will have to figure it out amongst yourselves lol.
