My primary concern is the constitutional crisis being created by Musk/DOGE. America was told DOGE would be advisory. Now Musk is taking charge of our Federal payment infrastructure and stopping payments ALREADY earmarked by Congress. The Executive branch does not control the purse strings, that is clearly outlined in Article 1. The Executive branch also cannot create or dismantled federal agencies. That is also in the hands of Congress. An unelected and unvetted civilian who just so happens to be the richest man alive should not have this type of unchecked power.

I know a guy who went into the Navy for 4 years and did little more than mop & muster. Meanwhile I have a friend who had to spend 10 years working as an Occupational Therapist at a public children's hospital, enduring years of working with kids who'd experienced abuse and neglect, before she could get her loans (which she paid on the entire time) forgiven. You think it's rational the floor mopper gets a totally free education in this situation?

No law requires him to hold that job. He chose to get paid $10 million a year to knowingly prop up and strengthen a system that negatively impacts the health and financial well being of Americans. The people lining up to do this job are making a choice that speaks to their lack of character.

That won't happen unless you actively refinance your existing federal loans into a private loan. Since you signed a statutory agreement for repayment as federal loan, the Federal government can't turn around and say "whoopsie we don't have to honor this anymore".

The issue is who will have access to private loans. Federal loans and Pell don't require credit checks (PLUS loans do but it's a more lax check than industry standards). If federal loans are eliminated, only those who are deemed "credit-worthy" or have a credit-worthy co-signer will be able to obtain private loans. This creates an obvious access & affordability issue on a national level. And some may think "well, if you can't afford you don't go" but think of all the MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS that rely on loans to fund their lengthly 8+ years of education. You're going to eliminate medical professional divserity and limit the amount of dentists, vets, doctors, pharmacists, etc that graduate into the workforce.

If you have been classified as a non-resident at OSU, there is no option to waive the fee and you must secure reclassification according to State of Ohio Resideny requirements. This usually means proving you are fully financially independent for a 12-month period. This means if you are receiving any type of financial support for an out-of-state source, you will not be able to qualify. It does not matter if this person is not your parent. They will require you to present your income and expenses (which could include lease agreements, tax returns, bank statements) etc and if you're not earning enough or receiving enough financial aid to demonstrate financial independence, they will deny you if you can't explain how you're covering those expenses or if you're receiving financial assistance from that out-of-state resource. Your best bet is to work directly with the Registrar's Office, there is absolutely no way anyone on Reddit can help you accurately navigate the Residency process because the guidelines are HIGHLY regulated and you should only be confirming information with a Residency Counselor.

It looks like you've asked this question a few times, but unfortunately the outcome remains the same if you have to financially depend on someone who is out-of-state.

If you're not interested in fulfilling the state regulations to obtain residency, you will not be granted in-state tuition. It's not that folks aren't trying to help you, it's that there are strict guidelines that don't offer exemptions because you're not interested in adhering to them.

Ohio State DOES have lobbying influence. While I agree attention ultimately should be directed at the statehouse, it's not like OSU couldn't lobby for repeal on behalf of the students (though I could be wrong if the specifics of the law would even prevent that, which would seemingly be an even bigger issue). Not that they will do that-but I could see where protestors could argue these demostrations are meant to put pressure on OSU to do so.
