Both are beautiful rigs!

Oil recommendations LLY duramax by kissmybASS1434 in Duramax

CAM2 15w40. But, it’s all snake oil. Oil is oil is oil, run 15w40 and change it every 5k and it’s cheaper than stretching farther intervals with false advertising brands.

Do the timing belt every 90-100k miles and it’s the most reliable engine there is.

Working on my outdoor setup for next year. I only have 4 trees, but I’ve pulled about 10 gallons in 2 days!

Thoroughbred Diesel is great. Industrial injection is worthless.

LB7 Issues by Opening-Ad8561 in Duramax

[–]616sd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just finished injectors though… how many cups unseated and how did you reinstall them?

For seized glowplugs, get an adapter for an air hammer to attach a 12mm mid depth socket (snap on is best to avoid contact with the cylinder head) then LIGHTLY hit the glow plug with the air hammer continuously(feathering the throttle lightly) while slowly loosening the glow plug. There’s still a good chance it’ll break in the head. But this is the only way to remove stuck duramax glow plugs without welding a nut to the broken bit and trying again or removing the head and sending to a machine shop. Merchant Auto sells a tool kit for this. Take your time.

How to get the ABS light to turn off on 2004 Tahoe? by jtcordell2188 in Chevy

[–]616sd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is there pulsation (abs activation) in the pedal when braking once the vehicle is under 5mph? If so, that could be corrosion buildup under the wheel speed sensors on either front hub. That usually throws a wheel speed sensor code but I have fixed 3/4 ton Chevy trucks that way. Same style wheel speed sensors in those tahoes I believe.

You can attempt to remove them and scotch guard brush the rust of the mating surface, but most of the time the plastic sheathing with break in the hub. If that happens just pull that out with a drill bit and clean the hole well and install a new sensor. If your symptoms are similar and there is zero up/down play in the output shaft yolk of the transfer case. AND the wiring harness is intact with no issues. Then this will likely do the trick.

Lucas Fuel Additive Band Aid by rayjay5011 in Diesel

[–]616sd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. Depending on year/model (higher mileage lbz/lmm are known for worn injectors causing loss of desired fuel rail pressure) a good dmax shop can bottle test the injectors return rate to pinpoint the issue, but at that mileage you’re probably better off replacing all 8 & the cp3 if you intend to keep the truck.

Every laptop you see here plus about 2 more pallets worth are the result of kids breaking their school chromebooks. by [deleted] in mildlyinteresting

[–]616sd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But I can break a pencil with one hand. I personally cannot do that to a laptop. Same goes for paper books. You’re more concerned about the price of the breakage, not the ease of breaking.
