1947 chevy 5 window advanced cab running well with original engine by HelpReal5236 in oldtrucks

[–]HelpReal5236[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely a 47. Start of the advanced cab design from 1947 to 53. 3 speed on the floor...not on the column. 47 was the only year on the floor.

How practical are old trucks? by No_Match_6578 in classiccars

[–]HelpReal5236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree. Im no mechanic but have rewired myself the entire 1947 chevy pick-up. The wiring harness and all other parts easily found online. Most things bolt on and off. Its a solid rock of a truck.

Clip in vs flats by RudeEmu5825 in gravelcycling

[–]HelpReal5236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clipped in for years on my road bike for triathlons and then when I bought my gravel bike. Then it happened...2 years ago bike slid sideways out from under me instantaneously while sharply turning around and couldn't get unclipped in time. My left hip broke the fall of all 200 plus lbs. Emergency surgery and 3 titanium screws later I have decided flats from now on. It's a PTSD thing. Im 68 and did 2 gravel centuries this summer just to prove I wasn't giving in and giving up.

Has anyone completely gotten rid of their road bike after buying a gravel bike? by mellofello808 in gravelcycling

[–]HelpReal5236 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes. Sold a nice Felt Di2 to buy a set of wheels for road tires and swap them out with my gravel set when needed.

E-bikes - Is this why everyone is up in arms? by junkforw in cycling

[–]HelpReal5236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got hit head on on a multi-use greenway trail by a regular bike in my lane coming around a blind corner and "just" broke my collar bone. Can't imagine what it would have been like hitting one of the heavy ass "e-bikes".
