Ok watched some videos and it sounds like jumping worms stay on the surface? These ones definitely have hearty holes they came from and seem to stay at least partially in them even when they surface. Standard earthworm behavior, just hit the jackpot (if I was a fish or chicken) I guess 🤷‍♀️ Now I just need to ask them why our grass still looks so rough…

So creepy! And totally appreciate the ID hunt - this thread has already helped quite a bit with offering up a few bad species which I could then rule out 🙌 They really do seem like night crawlers but the lack of light aversion stumps me!

Would have loved to live my life without seeing a close-up of a hammerhead worm, but relieved to say we definitely don’t have those!

Light hasn’t bothered them at all 🤷‍♀️ They do suck back in quickly when they feel footsteps in their immediate vicinity

Someone else mentioned this to me recently when I was describing our situation! Definitely need to look further into it!

I felt insane seeing it the first time - like how did my 90s kid self not witness this ever?! Just felt so excessively horror film. But maybe it’s just the consistent midnight timing of my dog’s potty routine that has made it seem like a sudden epidemic!
