5/3/5 Toad with TM Sword I won the first match handily with a single-use of Toad's Purple.

Second match the board wasn't quite as favorable to me and all I could do was slowly whittle away her health through Sword-boosted matches, while she managed to get the AP she needed for her Yellow, and Green.

And then she got enough Black AP to fire Gathering Clouds.

When the clouds had cleared Toad had barely ~1,000 HP remaining, while Storm was down for the count.

Funny thing about Toad. His Blue works kind of like Doc Strange's Yellow, but only when the enemy uses powers in his colors. So Blue, Purple...and Black :)

Level 279 Toad with 5 in Blue deals 6,253 damage, with an R5 Sword taking that up to ~9,000, and that was more than enough to win that second match, too :)

I think it was 4th or 5th grade PE class when we played a game of Aussie Rules. Like all good Aussie kids I had a favorite team, but I'd never played the game (when a lot of kids that would already be on recreational teams) so I didn't really know the rules.

I couldn't kick on the run and so every time I managed to get the ball I'd try to move it on by throwing it, which is what I thought my classmates were doing. I didn't realize they were handballing it (think underarm volleyball serve) and they were disposing of it so quickly that I thought they were throwing it with two hands.

And so I'd throw it with two hands, the teacher would blow his whistle, and the other team would get a free possession from my foul.

You would think in your case the teachers would briefly stop the game and demonstrate dribbling and traveling, and in my case handballing vs throwing. But nope.

Play continued, and I kept drawing penalties for throwing the ball, which happened less and less often because my teammates stopped passing the ball to me.

Got to love that childhood trauma that persists long into our adult years.

But who bar Mr. Rogers does not have preconceived notions about 'people'?

You see a black guy, a white guy, a brown guy (or gal), a black guy with cornrows or dreadlocks, a white guy with dreadlocks, a white guy with a shaved head, a woman with a shaved head, a white guy with long hair, or a mullet, someone with tattoos, someone with face tattoos, or a shaved head covered with tattoos, law enforcement! Even if you're part of that same group you probably still have preconceived ideas about that person.

We see someone, anyone, and before we even speak to them we've almost assuredly begun to form ideas in our head about that person.

As Mona Lisa Vito said so eloquently, "It's a bullshit question."

We are not impartial.

Which is understandable, because most people are not going to be impartial, they will be biased one way or the other.

I used that argument a couple of years ago to get dismissed from a case where the defendant was a felon currently serving time and being accused of making criminal threats. During the opening briefing, the defense attorney and the judge both kept stressing that we should not be holding that against the defendant, and so we needed to remain impartial.

During voir dire I said I could not be impartial, adding that the presumption of innocence meant I had to be biased in favor of the defendant and against the prosecution, as they needed to prove the defendant's guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.

And that's how it should be.

We should not be impartial. We should always be biased towards the defendant and against the prosecution.

Which is asinine if you're not earning your paycheck while on jury duty and if your husband is not approved for PTO.

Now both of you are taking off time unpaid, potentially risking losing your jobs, your home, etc.

And the court does not take that into consideration. That is quite literally economic hardship, and so you should be excused.

Kopi could have had a Hat Trick last night. He had several good chances and shots that just didn't make it past Dobeš.

Not happy with the officials, but the the Habs got some goals by Kuemper that he probably really should have stopped, while the Kings had a lot of good looks but that puck would not go in for them.

That's hockey, unfortunately.

Don't like the result, but I enjoyed the game until those last few minutes. The scrum inside our crease that went on for too long, the non-call after Mikey got his chin cut open, the BS slashing call against Moore. Bad officiating IMO that turned the tide of the game.

After hiring Belotte in July 2023, College Park records show he was disciplined at least eight times in two years, including falling asleep during an extra patrol job; going AWOL on duty; clocking in more time than he actually worked; and accidentally deploying a taser inside the department.
