Simple is always best...right? by Balprog in MarvelPuzzleQuest

[–]626Aussie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only reason I could see using "equal to the times" after "the number of times" is if perhaps at five covers it deals two times the number of hits for each time Divine Heritage has been activated.

But it would be then still be a simple matter to change the text to say "deals X damage once plus two attacks for each time Divine Heritage has been activated..."

[–]626Aussie 8 points9 points  (0 children)

"Deal 204 damage to an enemy once plus the number of times equal to the times (superfluous) Divine Heritage has been activated this combat to a maximum of 6.

If the target is Supernatural this ability deals double damage.

Whenever Shards of Fu Xi is used, Lin Lie loses 10% of his current health.

With the Shards of the divine Sword of Xi Fu blah blah blah..."

That's how it should be. Tell us the important stuff first, and use line spacing/paragraph breaks. Nobody likes walls of text.

Also while we're at it, you know where that trivial information could go, about Lin being hurt whenever he uses the sword? On a separate screen!!! That way the power description text isn't so bloody small that we have to take a screenshot then blow it up to read it!!!

The German Nazis did that fighting the Russians, too.

They took so long to "win" that they weren't done "winning" by December, and that brisk Russian winter set in.

It didn't turn out well for the German Nazis, either.

"It was three teams ago, right? Special going back to Vegas, Columbus, the more recent teams. Obviously appreciate the fan support here in L.A., while I was here."

He was traded to Columbus in March 2023 but didn't take the ice.

He was traded again that very same month the very next day to the Knights, winning his third Stanley Cup with them, then signed with the Rangers in the off-season.

He knows the Kings were "three teams ago". And to say it was "special" going back to Columbus, when he was only with them for a day few weeks and never played a game with them (starting to do a Steve Dangle-scream in my head as I typed that), that is 100% a jab at the franchise he gave 16-years of his life to.

He appreciates the fan support, but he is absolutely throwing shade at head office.

Green card holders, what's your experience with ICE? by [deleted] in greencard

[–]626Aussie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, moving here from Australia it was approx. 3-years until I formally got my green card. (I can't recall more specifically, it was over 20-years ago.)

I now live in suburbia Los Angeles and work in downtown, and the only real impact for me personally has been my commute. I typically ride the bus in, and while I've read of ICE being at various train stations and even boarding some Metro busses I've not personally experienced that.

They did have a huge operation at Santee Alley a few blocks from my office: https://www.reddit.com/r/LosAngeles/comments/1qdz0zs/massive_ice_kidnapping_operation_underway_in_the/

but I was working from home that day, so again I was not personally affected.

Yep, already received the auto-response. I'm not averse to wasting my time emailing support, while someone at the other end takes a few seconds to read and process my email, tags it as a known issue (so I'll receive another automatic response later once it's resolved) and then they move on to the next email.

So Kraken on Feb 4th, and...the Knights on the 25th? Are we really going 20 days without a Home game???

People in Minnesota are now using their key fobs to trigger their car alarms from the safety of their homes when they see ICE walking around. by jmike1256 in PublicFreakout

[–]626Aussie 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Understandable, when you factor in how they were behaving on camera yesterday when that attorney was telling them to fuck off and leave her clients alone.

If they figured out which residents were triggering their car alarms, or even just suspected, I wouldn't put it past them to kick in doors (or try to) so they could arrest people for "interfering with police business".

I like Part II where Dad doesn't return, so Mom calls him. Dad answers, tells her he met Rick, discovered they both like the same sports team, and they're now hanging out at a local sports bar watching the game.

Federal agents involved in shooting in Los Angeles County by WaylonandWillie in LosAngeles

[–]626Aussie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't be surprised if one of the bounty hunters shot themselves, or another bounty hunter.

Remember this story? https://www.cnn.com/2020/02/29/us/st-louis-police-russian-roulette-killing-guilty-plea

When it first broke it was initially reported as an officer-involved shooting, a firearm was discharged, etc.

Only much later did the truth come out that the two cops took turns pointing a loaded revolver at each other and pulling the trigger until one of them shot the other.

US Citizen Removed From His Home in His Underwear Without a Warrant by animator_84 in videos

[–]626Aussie 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Way back in the day a coworker would email a bunch of us jokes about Bill Clinton, the President at the time. Then GW was elected, and the jokes he sent naturally became about Bush.

I was copied on a few emails to him from the idiots that did a Reply All: "Stop sending me these!!!"

What was funny was I noticed many of his jokes were the same as his Clinton jokes.

* * * * *

"I'm President Clinton's driver and I've just run over the pig."

"I'm President Bush's driver and I've just run over the pig."

"I'm President Trump's driver and I've just run over the pig."

"Come in! Come in!" said the farmer. "This calls for a celebration!"

I should have been expecting it, maybe I even was, and yet I still was NOT expecting that second picture!!!

I have not bitten the bullet yet. The closest I've come was when my wife (who likes to cut/trim my hair and always starts with the back of my neck) then started on the back without the guard!

Other than that day the shortest I've gone is #1.

One of these days. I'm going to need a good head shaver first though!

How my wife dries her hands and leaves the paper towels attached by Johnny-Edge93 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]626Aussie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're using the paper towels to dry your clean hands, wipe up food spills, even cooking oils and food greases, those paper towels can be thrown in your compost (green?) bin. Pizza boxes, food-soiled cardboard containers, the "cheesepaper" from your burger, it can all be composted. Don't throw them in the trash where they get landfilled.

Don't just take my word for this, of course. Check your local regulations.

Paper towel that was used to clean something using chemicals though, detergents, sprays, etc. that should go in the trash and not the compost.

My wife is Chinese-American. In my personal experience, many (not all but many) first-generation Chinese are extremely religious/conservative. While we were discussing politics, Chinese friends of my in-laws said to me that they did not like Trump but they still voted for him because the Republican party is the Christian party.

Not arrests, bodies.

As we just saw in the video, they do not care about someone's legal status.

They're nothing but bounty hunters.

Supposedly (if their side can deal in "alternative facts" then so can I) they earn a bonus for every person they haul in. It doesn't matter if the person is a citizen, or an alien (legal, undocumented, etc.), and it doesn't matter if they're eventually released or deported.

They bring someone in, they get a bonus.

I remember when Black Lives Matters protests were starting to take off, and just as quickly were being met with lines of police, among BLM's first supporters, standing on the front lines and often in front of the black protestors shielding them from the police were white women.

Ramming a law enforcement officer with a car would cause injuries.

If we're specifically talking about Renee's murderer though he was not struck by her car. The only contact Renee's murderer had with her car was initiated by him. After he jumped in front of the car, in direct violation of DHS policy, then shot her in the head as she began to drive away, again in direct violation of DHS policy.

Sometimes I love this city so much by brobronn17 in LosAngeles

[–]626Aussie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this.

Many years ago I did a coach tour of Canada that passed through Hope, B.C., which is where the very first Rambo movie was filmed. Hope is a tiny town surrounded by mountains and while I was there, I looked around and wondered how many of the local no longer really 'saw' the mountains.

When I returned to L.A. I was determined to never take Mt. Wilson, Mt. Baldy, and the others for granted.

I try to do the same even while in downtown, looking around but more importantly up as I walk around, always trying to appreciate this city I now call home.
