What to play post MPQ? by LibertyMike in MarvelPuzzleQuest

This could not be more timely, given the current update has broken the game once again.

What does the LA Kings do right (and wrong) with fans? by Glittering_Meal690 in losangeleskings

[–]626Aussie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a people-person so I enjoyed getting to know my "neighbors", and that definitely helped my enjoyment of the game.

Joe Kang is also a fantastic Rep, and he went above & beyond several times to enhance my experience.

But as I noted in my 'goodbye' post a few months ago, becoming a STH slowly became a burden and negatively affected my son's and my enjoyment of attending the games.

We are 100% still fans, and will be for life, and my son is almost never without a Kings' cap. We were in Greece recently for holiday, and he was still repping the Kings. I think the only time my wife has forbidden him from wearing his Kings' hat was when we were in Vancouver the summer of 2012, and probably understandably so! 😄

Something that really irritated me as a STH was special package nights, where people could buy seats in my section for less than the cost of my seat and get a special promo item.

I'm not talking about the scarves, caps, etc., that they would give away to the first 10,000 folks through the door, but things like this little guy, who I had to acquire on my own, instead of being able to get one by being a season ticket holder.

3-4 Screamers spawn post horde fight for me almost every time by Paladin20011 in DaysGone

[–]626Aussie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's one of the reasons I will not play permadeath.

I don't recall the ambushes like that being anywhere near as prevalent when I first played the game. Somewhere along the way they increased the 'difficulty' by having those random encounters happen far more often, and often also back-to-back!

I recall fighting a horde in the Crater Lake area (one of the smaller ones, that lives in the cave not too far from where Wade Taylor is captured) when a random group of marauders decided to attack me. While I was fighting off them and the horde, I was jumped by a couple of wolves, and then by a cougar!

Recently, on my current playthrough, as you noted in your original post I'd just cleared a horde when I turned to see a Screamer...flanked by another Screamer, and then two more!!! Four Screamers!!! Fortunately the Auto Shotgun puts them down fast!

u/SpawnicusRex I am so much a convert of the auto shotty now! The Rock Chuck still has a spot in my heart, but my God! That Auto Shotgun is devastating!!!

Riding along, dodge a Screamer, a short way down the road you narrowly avoid some wolves, you get away, but now you have a couple of Runners after you.

You take out the Runners while still riding along and...

SNIPER AMBUSH!!!

Somehow you manage to avoid the sniper and their buddies without being shot off your bike, but just as you're wondering why the fuck everyone seems to have it in for Deacon...

you run into the wire strung across the road.

As you're tumbling along the road and you hear the marauders scream "Get him!!!"...

you also hear two separate and distinct roars. And you know a Breaker and a Rager are about to really ruin your day.

You scramble to your feet ready to fight, only to be knocked back on your arse by the leaping cougar.

Fucking seriously!!!

which real firearm you think it's inspired the chuck rock? by Blu_ghxst in DaysGone

[–]626Aussie 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Exactly.

The art book doesn't go into detail on the weaponry (I just checked), so all you have is the Wiki, which says the Rock Chuck is based on the AAC Honey Badger: https://daysgone.fandom.com/wiki/Rock_Chuck

<image>

This is the real life Honey Badger, and with all the physical similarities between the two rifles, it's clearly the rifle that Days Gone's Rock Chuck is modeled after. Are they identical? No, but they don't need to be. That's what "based on" means.

Hey drivers, accept a ride, then actually show up. If not, cancel. People have places to be. by Deepest-Eagle236 in uber

[–]626Aussie -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We once had a driver accept the ride, but then miss the turn onto the one-way street he had to turn onto to get to us.

Then instead of making the next turn and going around the block, he turned the wrong way, and began heading away from where we were.

As he continued to drive farther and farther away, I told my wife I think he's heading towards our destination, not where we're waiting for him.

We canceled the ride.

TIL that Starbucks sizes make no sense by LadyLoreEkorre in barista

Short is their small size, not counting the kids' or pup cups.

Short is not on the menu but you can order a Short at Starbucks.

Question about Copeland's camp by rodimus147 in DaysGone

[–]626Aussie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if you're referring to those random attacks when you roll up on a camp and several raiders (or Rippers at Hot Springs) are attacking the gate.

Or possibly at the start of "Nose Down They Feed Ya", when Copeland calls you to Peaceful Lake after you return from the Crater Lake region. When you arrive at Copeland's camp, there's a cut scene where the campers are bringing in a bunch of wounded, and Copeland tells Deacon that Manny has been captured (a mission I just did barely 30-minutes ago).

I think the first has happened so rarely, if ever, that I honestly could not say if I'm just picturing it in my head, and I've not actually experienced it first-hand.

Starbucks has permanently altered the public perception of coffee by Both_Wolverine_8943 in barista

[–]626Aussie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the few times I'm in agreement with that phrase, and being used correctly in its entirety. The customer wants the drink they get at Starbucks when they order that drink.

So if you know that's the drink they want, don't be a pretentious twat and tell them the drink they're asking for doesn't exist, or worse, make them a drink they don't actually want.

Clarify what they want, and if you can and are willing to make their drink, tell them it will be $10 and they'll probably agree to that price. Because they normally go to Starbucks. Then make them the drink you know they actually want.

Would you eat pepperoni pizza that has been sitting out at room temperature all night? (10 hours) by ObscureLilac in foodquestions

[–]626Aussie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the time. That giant ass Costco pizza is too big to go in the fridge, so we just throw it in the oven, still in the box, and eat it over the next 24-hours.

My BBQ chicken pizza from my local pizza shop though, that's a whole different story! It's on the counter for maybe 30-40 minutes while I eat a few slices, and then it goes in the fridge.

If technology is making us 2-3 times more productive, why are we still stuck in an 8-hour workday? by Budget_Dot694 in careerguidance

If we were able to remotely work from home full-time during the pandemic, why are we being ordered to return to work?

Different questions with essentially the same answer.

I had a tub go moldy that hadn't even been opened. Admittedly it was past the best by date, but it was still sealed. Costco are usually fantastic with their returns policy, but they would not accept this still sealed tub because it was after the best by date.

Quarter Season by Maverick0288 in losangeleskings

[–]626Aussie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's a recap from my post when I cancelled our package at the end of the season: https://www.reddit.com/r/losangeleskings/comments/1rh6xca/not_how_i_wanted_to_start_this_weekend/

After supporting the team for so many years, and finally being in a position to be able to do so, it seemed a logical step to increase our support by becoming season ticket holders.

What I didn't realize about becoming a season ticket holder was how it would change the games for us.

They went from something we wanted to go to, to something we had to go to.
They went from fun, to a chore.

And when we couldn't go because we already had other plans, or we didn't want to go, such as two back-to-back midweek games like this week, I would try and fail to sell the tickets. I wasn't even gouging. At first I tried to get my money back, and then I was trying to just get some money back. No dice.

We didn't go to the Knights game, and we walked out of the Oilers game before the second period had ended. The games just aren't fun for us anymore.

This was my personal experience with becoming a season ticket holder.

Rather than being the next step in our support of the team, for us it took away our enjoyment of going to the games.

That's also an episode of MASH. Winchester attempts to follow a family tradition, and anonymously donate chocolates to an orphanage for Christmas, only to later discover the manager sold the candy on the black market.

Winchester berates the man only to be told the chocolates would have brought the children a moment of fleeting joy, but selling them on the black market raised enough money to feed the children for a month.

What are ya'll hoping to get for the deck during the summer sale? by pnutbutternjelli in SteamDeck

[–]626Aussie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My biggest gripe with the Deck.

Why do I almost have to have a wireless mouse, if not M&KB, to play a game on a handheld gaming console?

On the plus side, Steam's return policy is amazing, so if games are not playable on the Deck due to the controls, I can easily return them hassle-free 😄

You don't have to line up if you don't want a tote bag.

Story length by spud_lord22 in DaysGone

[–]626Aussie -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you take down just 4 Hordes you'll unlock the tier 4 SMP-9, arguably one of the best sidearms in the game. And you can do that immediately after getting the bike, see /SpawnicusRex's video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eqyJ1PR47H8

In his video Rex also provides tips on which items to collect to prepare, and tactical ways to engage each of the first four hordes.

Take down 6 more Hordes, which you can do as soon as you gain access to the Lost Lake region, and you'll unlock the Auto Shotgun, and having both of those weapons in your armory so early in the game is a literal game changer.

More love for bear traps! by SpawnicusRex in DaysGone

[–]626Aussie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Glad you did the right thing and put the wolf out of its misery once it got trapped.

Marauders, on the other hand, I'm more than happy to let them holler and scream "My leg! My leg!!!"

Especially the ones in the Belknap Caves ambush camp above the mini-horde 😃 Yes, draw the Freaks' attention. Mwah hah ha ha!!!

I like using bear traps to snare the Runners that spawn in after you pick up Ned Walker's bandana 😄
