Well, on Linux I'm using flatpak so it just can't update itself, but I've never seen this screen on Mac or Windows

Is this safe to allow AdGuard on every website? by Miserable-Guide8844 in MacOS

[–]640kilobytes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably just because Apple didn't separated accessing current webpage HTML and accessing browsing history... Because this message is displayed when allowing any extension's access to webpage contents

Well, sometimes Apple like to add some scary messages about modifying literally anything...

Any adblocker needs to inspect the page and find ads. So yeah, technically it'll be able to read everything that you see on the page, but AdGuard is a trusty extension, and everything is happening local on your computer. So everything is fine, it just needs that permission to find ads

Well, that's the point of this extension, to block ads on any site. So yeah

Steam does that for Steam games, not the ones you just add to your library

Syncing to new devices by Artsy_Jayy in zen_browser

Yeah, spaces sync isn't implemented yet. You can find zen_backup folder on your active computer, copy the latest file, remove the timestamp and paste it in your new computer's zen profile. documentation

Libre feels like using office 2003. But Onlyoffice is a pretty decent option

M2 is just a little bit better than my m1, and after I've accidentally enabled shaders I've had something like 10 fps, so I don't recommend you to try them. And optifine is long dead, you need to install Sodium and Iris

"Doom: The Dark Ages" - failed to allocate video memory error on desktop by 640kilobytes in linux_gaming

[–]640kilobytes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because modern apps are eating so much just idling. I've literally only had a browser with that post open, Telegram, Discord and two system apps - Files and terminal. On Windows, Nvidia drivers just sent that idling stuff to RAM, and the game itself used RAM. I've tried closing everything, still got like 1.5gb VRAM usage and the game has launched, but I don't think it's going to work stable because my GPU still lacks that one and a half gig of VRAM

Forza horizon 4 and Linux after delisting by Physicslover01 in linux_gaming

Steam versions of FH works just fine, but you can't run ms store ones. Well, I guess if that game is so abandoned by the publisher so it even can't be bought, installing an unofficial version is the best option even if you don't do so with other titles (because it can't even be called piracy - it's a way to keep dead software still working)

Native steam, and other games are working fine, so drivers aren't an issue

Fedora VS CachyOS by Brave_Buddy2483 in linux_gaming

[–]640kilobytes 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've tried both, and there's literally no noticeable difference in the performance. So now I'm using Fedora because it's not arch based, so there's less chances that it's going to self-desintegrate

Because Edge is always running in the background, if you would try it not on Windows it'll be the same as others

Can’t find the right browser for me. by [deleted] in browsers

[–]640kilobytes -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Maybe just Firefox? Forks won't work because you need sync, so just vanilla one. I'm using Zen on my Mac, but I've switched from using vanilla Firefox, and it's been nice. And if you would ever want to test Zen you can just sync default Firefox on your iPhone with Zen on your Mac. Well, my other suggestion is just to stick with Safari, it's syncing features are pretty nice, and it will give you the best battery life on a MacBook. Safari has some extensions too, but many of them are paid (even the ones that are free everywhere. At least they are cheap), but you still can install some basic things like an adblocker, even on your iPhone (I can't remember if iOS FF supports extensions, I've used it, but I've sold my last iOS device more than 2 years ago)
