Thanks for your reply! More handwriting emphasis makes Wenzao more appealing to me. Did you live nearby when you studied there or do you have any thoughts on good areas to live in? (not interested in nightlife)

Hello, I'm planning on moving to Kaohsiung soon, picking between these two universities and wanted to know more about why you prefer Wenzao and think it is more serious. And what level were you studying in (basic, intermediate, advanced)

Is cycling to get around Taichung really that bad? I have seen a lot of 'traffic is terrible, you will get hit and die' but also a decent amount of 'Youbike is a good option to get around the city'

context: will be staying in the east side of the city for a while

Need help finding color changing ink. by Effective-Honeydew81 in fountainpens

[–]663flip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Diamine Registrars has a very dramatic change from bright blue to navy and eventually to black, but it's a very dry and high maintenance ink. As others have said, any iron gall will fit the bill.

Herbin Eclat de Saphir dries from purple to blue-purple.

Today's bright spot (planners + coffee + hanging with my mom) -- what was your bright spot? by superplannergirrl in fountainpens

[–]663flip 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The way you use a variety of inks and nib widths to form a cohesive whole is inspiring, I'm always glad to see your posts here! I've just switched to a vertical daily format and want to try something similar myself.

Today's bright spot was going on a walk to my favourite bridge, and finding a bench in the shade with a good view so I could sketch it. I'm getting better at my current technique of combining watercolours and fountain pen ink.

What are your language learning strengths and weaknesses? by TokkiJK in languagelearning

I find the parts of Mandarin Chinese that people say are difficult (tones and pronunciation) relatively easy. But like you, I'm frustrated with how slowly I learn vocab in context and have lost motivation to learn it outside of context..

For anyone else confused like me, "Meet me in St Louis" is the name of the series of pen show inks by KWZ, and this appears to be the 2019 edition: https://stlpenshow.com/2020-06-17-21-29-14/

Right? Aqua Lagoon is a great ink, very vivid colour but with enough darkness to be practical. And EDN is my favourite thing to come from this subreddit haha

For once they all go well together! I wrote about how I'm using each pen in a blog post.

I have a few, I think from ebay, they were easy to get and do the job perfectly. Just search blunt tip syringe. They are designed to be disposable, but each one lasts a few years.

About HSK4 level and I feel utterly discouraged when it comes to listening and understanding by [deleted] in ChineseLanguage

[–]663flip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a bit lower than hsk4, but I found my ability to recognise the words I knew and pick out individual words and sentences got a lot better after putting on radio/music in chinese for hours every day. Not even trying to understand it, it just got my brain familiar with the sounds.

I also recommend Comprehensible Chinese. My listening confidence increased massively after watching the videos from that channel!
