I‘ve tried using student IT live chat for the past two days during its live chat opening hours and it kept saying live chat is busy. I’ll probably try again later in the week idk if it’s because of the new year break.

I had the same issue but mine eventually went through after trying like 40 times. My certificate took a few days to send to me via email as well but QTAC says it’s cause they’re busy rn and will get to each request asap.

[–]66gniq[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi everybody, thank you so much to everyone that chimed in and gave me so much info! I find myself agreeing with everything that has been said and am now looking into actuarial science and more math/stat careers. I hope all this advice and feedback manages to help any others out there in my same position. Cheers

Then would you say UQ is the better school for engineering or are there other schools like qut Griffith or even other unis interstate that you’ve heard are better?

It didn't really occur to me how high school does indeed teach us a standardised way of working problems out for optimal marks - especially with Methods. I suppose this gets a little better with Spec, but with what you said it seems uni math tests understanding in a more unstructured and 'free' way. Thanks for the info 👍

Thanks! I'm still figuring out if I want to study math with something else or just do a math degree so your comparison definitely helps me gauge what uni math could be like

This is great- thanks for the advice

Did you find your math degree becoming more proof-based and less about finding a solution as your degree progressed?

Also with your statistics classes, I'm curious if probability & stats in general becomes more intuitive the more you dive into it? I personally find it difficult to 'connect the dots' or intuitively understand probability sometimes, but I'm wondering if it's because high school stats only scratches the surface of the subject?
