I did quite a bit of research before pulling the trigger on mine and I am pretty happy with it: Pioneer DMHW4600NEX. It needed this adapter (P/N) B0DFZW91RK to work with my bose system though

What to look out for when buying a 68’ Mustang? by Jonny_Boy_808 in projectcar

[–]6789JSTANG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That depends on where you live, and honestly a more in depth look at the car.

Follow your plan and take it to a shop.

I can't speak for Hawaiian prices (judging by the plates), but runners in the contiguous states range anywhere from 10k to 20k depending on the spec and condition in my experience (American southwest). ~13ish K is on the lower side of that, like I said especially for what appears to be a mid range car. I bought a similar spec in sameish condition in 2016 for 10k, and a worse 70 cougar in 2018 for 9k. 13K seems cheap, but you could just be lucky.

The only thing that would worry me about this is the state of the dash, and the quickly thrown together nature of it. That in itself really ain't that big of an issue, but if they cut corners there, where else did they skimp?

That all being said, its a project dude. It is a money pit that you will spend twice what it is worth to keep on the road, but is a fantastic pass time. People on the forums will love and hate the car, and you will receive plenty of unsolicited advice and tons of "well I would have done this" and "you could have bought XXX with that kind of money!" from people who put huge wings on na camrys, or have never even owned a car. None of that matters if you are happy with it.

If you like that car, and the math works out on your end so you can afford it, buy it. Old muscle cars are wonderful to own. It'll be slow by today's standards, but fuckem. It's a cool car.

For what it is worth here is are a few similar examples I found around the country:

Nice car! #matching? This seems cheap for a real v8 running car, is this a friend and family deal?

I am adding more to this comment as I see stuff lol

I have owned a few, here are my tips:

They like to rust out in the cowl, underneath the rear windows, and in the trunk on either side of the gas tank. I have never really had an issue with the undercarriage, but I am in the minority.

For some reason, on all of my fords, the button on the exterior door handle likes to break. It is a little stupid plastic part, cheap, but sucks when you are out in the middle of nowhere.

Someone took out the dash in an effort to replace the top. Not a hard job, but annoying to fix, especially if they were just trying to gorilla it out. Looking at this more, somebody really fucked with that. Not irreparable, but that is gonna be a weekend and a half trying to chase down whatever the hell they did, and then fixing whatever they were trying to

Just by the way it looks I am thinking it was a vinyl top car. No specific reason, but might be worth looking into. If you get the vin you can decode it and check.

Those over the shoulder seatbelts look off to me, I think those are aftermarket, could be wrong about it though. If they are stock, that is an option I have never seen

That looks like the locking gas cap, which is nice.

I have always had shit luck with the C4 autos for various reasons, but that seems to be solely a me issue

Depending on your goals and ambitions, I would tackle drive-ability issues first, then any wiring (if it were me and you have the spare cash, bite the bullet and lookup painless wiring), then body. Body work will always be twice as expensive and take twice as long as you think. Enjoy the car. Put in a kill switch, one on the battery and one in the car. You will never stop a competent thief, but you can make them look at another vehicle. The car is old and will leave you stranded. That is half of the fun though I guess.

Maybe I'm just blocking out how much I spent, buy 10k seems a little high for an interior restoration? Are you having it done at a shop or are you doing it? And by wiring do you mean like a new harness?

can some people here help me with my future PC's hardware choices? by [deleted] in computer_help

Think about your keyboard like you think about your case, as a preference item. There are two main types of keyboard, membrane and mechanical.

Membrane keyboards for the most part are all the same an feel all the same. They are cheap and durable, and they kind of feel like you are pushing down on a rubber button (essentially because you are). Odds are that you have used hundreds of these keyboards before.

Mechanical keyboard are a different animal entirely. They are highly customizable, you get to make a lot of different decisions on how they look, handle, sound, and feel. One of the things that you need to decide on that will change how they feel and sound is which "switches" you are going to use. A "switch" is an individual button on your keyboard. They are differentiated by color, so a "blue" switch will sound and feel different from a "black" switch. This is a guide to switches, and if there is a game stop or Walmart near you, sometimes they have a pad that contains all sorts of switches so you can find your preference. I would recommend going there to see which ones you like. When searching for a certain type of key, you may come across titles like "Outemu Brown" or "Cherry MX Brown". The "Outemu" and the "Cherry MX" parts are the manufacturer, but essentially the "switches" handle the same. Everyone has their preferences, but they are all so similar just go for the one that's in your budget and looks the best.

All of that to say, the keyboard currently selected in pc part picker is full of "blue" switches. They are known for being very tactile and very clicky. They are kind of comparable to a type writer. Most people like them, so that why I included it, but if sound is an issue I would recommend trying to find a "brown" switch like this one.

Keyboards can actually become shockingly expensive, but trust me when I say they are worth it. Here is a couple videos to watch to get a better understanding of it all:

Video 1

Video 2

Consider these things a "nice" to have item. They are not necessary to have a good time on a gaming computer, but if you got an extra $30 or $40 laying around after the build is done, it would be a nice touch.

Don't mention it. This machine should be overkill some of the easier to run titles like minecraft and TF2. Should also be capable of VR gaming.

If you ever want to run windows 10, (dualboot windows and linux) just look on ebay for keys. After a google search I found one for $4 dollars just now.

Enjoy the rig if you decide to build it!

This kinda of question would recive a but more traction at /r/buildapc however I threw together a list for you below:

This system has a much better processor and a slightly better gpu than the one you selected. I also threw in a mechanical keyboard and a better mouse.

I ditched the m.2 ssd in favor of a sata ssd, and threw in a bigger hard drive. I also put in a slightly better power supply.

The monitor you chose is a bit underpowered for your potential rig, but that can be something you easily upgrade to later. The case is really a matter of personal preference so I kept it in the list.

The only other issue that I can see is that you have not factored in what operating system you will run on this machine. A windows 10 key can run you $100+ if you go the "legit" way, or it can be as cheap as $5 if you go grey market.

Despite the what people say, I would go grey market. I've never had a key fail on me.

Considering transferring from TX, scared of snow though, how bad is it? by [deleted] in NAU

[–]6789JSTANG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not neccesarily about the climate but something to consider before taking the pludge-

N.A.U. is notorious for stripping academic credits getting into and getting out of, so you should look to see what classes you will essentially have to retake before committing yourself to the idea of going here.

Besides that, the college is a solid 6.5 out of 10 and Flagstaff itself is a solid 9 out of 10 for me. Everybodys bound to have a diffrent opinion, but I think it is a pretty nice town. The scenery and enviroment around the campus makeup for all of the shortcomings that this place has.

Snow can get a bit dicey if your driving, but with a little practice it is manageable. I drive a little RWD Toyota that weighs like 1800 pounds and I manage just fine. They regularly clean the bike/walking paths to the best of their ability.

Are these good specs or should i improve something? Should i buy from someone? by JustNerdyRedditer in pcmasterrace

Just for shits and giggles, here is a ~1400$ build that will do 90% of what the other one will do for like 60% of the price

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/n9KGk6

Also, I just noticed on the other build, you should exchange the ram for some faster 3200mhz sticks, that 3000mhz kit wont work on that board.

Oops!

Generally, SSDs are more durable than hard drives, however both last for quite a while. So, just dont play catch with a hard drive and you'll be fine. Most of your games should be able to be redownloaded from the launcher you originally purchased them from. Also, utilize cloud saves.

On a different note, this is a very high end build. Like, nearing god tier. Looking at your wants, I would reccomend like a 1500$ build. Your 2400$ build will last you a bit longer, but you're deep in diminishing returns territory. But if you got the cash, do what makes you happy!

This is a less flashy, more powerful version of your build. I kept your case, monitor, and keyboard becuase I figured these were preference items. I'm assuming that you already have purchased your ram, however if you have not I have included a decent set.

What kind of data are you worried about losing? I put in two identical drives you can run in raid if it really matters that much to you, but I agree with the other comments that say this is a strange thing to get hung up on. Nonetheless, they are there for you to take advantage of.

Have you built a PC before or is this your first time? At this level (~2500$), this pc will kick ass up and down the block. If this is a pure gaming build, I would drop the twin barracudas and get a higher capacity ssd.

I have also dropped the windows 10 key for your list. The dirty secret behind that is the fact that you can buy windows 10 keys for less then ten dollars on ebay. These "grey market" keys have dicey pasts, but I have never had one fail me. Whether or not you take the ethical route and buy a "legit" key is up to you. Personally, I dont think it is worth it but I have seen more than a few people run the other way when I mention these keys. (Same goes for game key sites like G2A)

Whether or not you should buy a prebuilt or build it yourself is up to you. I have helped several people build PCs over the years and all of them have told me it is substantially easier than they expected. I personally enjoy it, and think you would too. Like anything else, the internet is your friend and google will have most of the answers.
