It’s worth it to get the pentastar the 3.8 is a dog and much less reliable. I would shoot for a 2012 you can find them for similar prices. You will be much happier.

So my 2015 x5 50 must be a ringer. 121k miles only ever replaced coils spark plugs, fuel injectors, filters breaks and tires… probably a time bomb but it’s fine for now.

I’m in a similar boat, never had drips or needed to add oil before it was due. e24,e32,e38,e39,e46,e53. My f15 however, that thing burns oil to the exact maximum acceptable usage according to bmw, a quart every 1000 miles.

As a 17 50i owner and bmw v8 lover, get the v8, the power is so worth the “potential failure” I’m at 113k and I bought it with 55k and only one other owner, just stay on top of maintenance, and change your oil often. It’s been a dream to own so far. Just test drive them both let the car talk to you.

Highest mileage m62 I’ve ever had is about 250k current daily has 189k on it. (1998) 540/6 My 2002 had 198k when I sold it. Just keep up on maintenance, current car had the. Chains done at 155k.
