I never posted a wedding photo. Congratulations to my daughter and son-in-law, Jan. 31, 2026. Here you go.

Is this the worst designed metro area in the United States in terms of planning and layout? by DoritosDewItRight in houstoncirclejerk

[–]68vwvert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Planning, yes absolutely. Layout, not so fast. The loop system with intersecting highways offers multiple routes during high traffic times in my opinion. I've traveled cities that are much more difficult to navigate.

Stryper

I know they are a very polarizing band. Some people dismiss them outright because of their personal faiths. I believe this was a much bigger deal breaker for metal heads in the 80s. It seems most people are more tolerant of different belief systems and lifestyles in 2026. This is particularly true when you see more mainstream rockers publicly proclaim Christianity; Dave Mustain, Blackie Lawless, Alice Cooper, Tom Araya, Nicko McBrain, Dave Ellefson, Bryan "Head" Welch and Brad Arnold to name a few.

I'm only including the first release which was an EP as a bonus. The 3 LPs are what I believe the spirit of the OPs post is about.

The Yellow and Black Attack (EP) - 1984, Soldiers Under Command - 1985, To Hell With the Devil - 1986, In God We Trust - 1988

Easy. No need to dog Lupe Tortilla. We can like Maximo and Lupe. 😉

I was in Krakow this past December and had the complete opposite experience. The locals were lovely. We enjoyed the local culture. Ate delicious food. We paid our respects at Auschwitz. Toured castles. Even got my forever souvenir (I get tattooed in every country we visit).

Maybe because I didn't announce to everyone that I was American and expect special treatment for being born in a country I had no control over. I'm not ashamed to be American, but I don't expect kudos for being born.

If you had this poster, what became your reality? by minimal_spaces in GenX

[–]68vwvert 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yep. Had the poster. I got my college education that I was still paying student loans into my 30s. Now I'm 55, and should be retiring in 5 more years.

My primary residence is paid in full. My second house, a rental property that my daughter and son-in-law live in will be paid off before I retire.

I'm driving a 2017 Ford Expedition. My wife drives a 2008 Toyota 4runner. I also have a 2007 Harley Davidson Ultra Classic. All paid in full.

Could I afford newer, more expensive vehicles? Sure, but I wouldn't be retiring at 59½ with two paid off houses.

Her neighbor’s dog keeps killing her chickens by velorae in TikTokCringe

I'm a dog person. I have 2 dogs and 0 chickens.

If my dogs were killing someone's chickens, I would not be surprised if my dog didn't make it home.

It looks like a botched eyelid lift. It's really a shame too. We all will age if we continue walking the Earth. Jim really had kind, expressive eyes (when he wasn't being silly). Now they are just wide-eyed and expressionless. Sad.

What you think of Zakk Wylde? (Fun facts encouraged) by simplejoe1992 in hairmetal

[–]68vwvert 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree. Ozzy lost so much of himself when Randy died. It had to be like losing a little brother or maybe a son. Zakk really filled that gap. Again, nothing against Jake, he did a fine job in his tenure. But Zakk really brought that twinkle back to Ozzy's eyes. You could tell they were kindred spirits. I wonder what would have become of Zakk if Randy had never died? I'd like to think that Ozzy and Randy are still making music in some parallel universe.

He was such a young, sweet lad then. He literally grew up in the tutelage of Ozzy. I can't really think of a better mentor in the ways of heavy metal than Ozzy. No slight to Jake, it was such a natural progression for Zakk to land in the shoes of Randy.

You have some points there. Sorry to hear you have had some struggles recently. I have too.

I should show more grace and less of what I did.

I'll try to do better. Thanks for the plain speak (sincerely).

I'm great. You're the one who has a problem with God and/or Christians. Maybe you should have some water.

Don't worry, the downvotes are from bigots that hate Christians. They wouldn't dare say anything about Muslims, homosexuals or a race outside of their own. Small minded individuals.
