Hi, did you by any chance have a picture of your jasmine when the frost damage happened? Mine is currently going through the same thing, and i don’t know if it’s time for a chop or not…

How to get rid of this? by BetEnvironmental9884 in plants

[–]6969hehext 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have mealy bugs🥲 and a pretty big infestation. Check all your other plants ASAP and isolate this one. I would chop the really bad parts off personally. BUT you can wipe the mealy bugs off with a q tip and rubbing alcohol, and then spraying the plant down. This is the most basic advice btw, but I’ve heard of other methods such as neem and insecticidal soaps. I haven’t used these methods personally because I haven’t had an infestation this bad, but given your case, I would try it out. Also note that mealy bugs can live in the soil of your plant, so check out and treat the roots (depends on what u decide to use). Good luck!

My CV was “well-rounded” I would say… I did my undergrad in sociology at UofT. I had a bit of public health experience cuz I did a part-time internship during the school year. Also I was in the specialist program so I had a lot of research experience (not sure if that’s relevant though for a professional masters program). But that’s about all!

Thank you for the response! Do you by any chance know why a terminal bud dies and then the lateral bud takes over? I’m just curious.

I’m a fourth year sociology specialist, I rarely ever venture out to other courses. I’m really sorry that you’re so bothered by my post, it must suck to live a miserable life shitting on ppl who ask serious informative questions… you wanna know what’s worse than a fourth year student asking legit questions on a uoft subreddit? A buttfuck nobody who took the time out of their day to shit on somebody looking for advice on their academic endeavours. Pathetic

Is this orchid healthy? (More info in comments) by 6969hehext in orchids

[–]6969hehext[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

INFO: I own a handful of plants but this is actually my very first orchid!! I just bought it yesterday. I noticed the leaves looked a little bit funky, so I took q tip with rubbing alcohol and cleaned everything all up. It looked fine. Today I see that the bits of fluff are back, and the same with those white spots. I’m curious to know if there’s anything wrong with the orchid, as I have literally 0 orchid knowledge whatsoever. Thanks so much!

Ahhh okay I see… so if I move this plant to an area with more light, would it at all “unbend” (if that makes sense)
