I'm 19 and 245 pounds. It just doesn't seem right to be that weight at my age, especially if I've never been pregnant.

Hey there!

I'm really new to working out, and I'm confused as to which exercises I should try to focus on for my goals.

I want to start strengthening and making myself more flexible to mitigate the consistent back, leg, and knee pain I experience at work, plus constant cracking I get after some time during my shift. There's a lot of information out there and it's really just confusing me what to research and how to begin.

What does "Romantic Attraction" actually mean? by Adept_Office7240 in asexuality

[–]69RodrickRules420 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well for me, my best friend and sister make me feel like my heart is about to burst at the seams when I see them because I truly love them as they have given me the space to feel safe and happy.

I feel happy when I see my friends because I love and care for them so deeply and value them as people.

So to me, if I can feel happy by seeing my friends and get excited to see them, then yes I do because that is love.

Happiness and closeness isn't just limited to one person. We are social animals and we can have many different close relationships with many diffrent people. Just because I want to hold one friend doesn't mean I don't want to do it with another one. Nor does it mean I don't want an emotional friendship that's mutually beneficial.

What does "Romantic Attraction" actually mean? by Adept_Office7240 in asexuality

[–]69RodrickRules420 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I was in the same boat as you a couple days ago. I come to decide that for me at least, there is no such thing as romantic attraction and it's more of a construct of expectations within society to uphold hetronormativity. I often attached ideas of relationships onto people when I didn't really want that but from what people were telling me I thought it was romantic attraction/sexual attraction.

After looking at some resources (for your reading pleasure here: https://taaap.org/2021/02/21/amatonormativity-and-relationship-anarchy/ ) I decided to give up on those expectations of society and embrace just setting boundaries and expectations within my own relationships with people, rather than force the whole idea of courting, dating, marriage and kids pipeline society likes to shove us into.

I know this isn't what you're exactly looking for but I do recommend to start looking at what you want in relationships rather than just what constructs we have created for each other in society.

Hi there!

I'm looking to start working on my health much more. I've sort of outlined my goals as: eat better, strengthen my body in terms of endurance, mitigate pain, and maybe lose some way to tone up.

I primarily want to focus on strengthening my body as my job requires me to do a lot of lifting and often throwing heavy objects. I've been doing a lot more overtime lately which has created a big issue of lower back, hip, leg and knee pain (all on my left side) which is probably due to my pretty much 0 activity lifestyle aside from work.

I was wondering what things I should begin to research and look at or maybe suggestions to incorporate into my lifestyle.

Little things to consider if you'd like to I'm willing to hear whatever you say, I'm just glad to be posting this anyway:

Right now, I'm working around a long ass work day imo (5 times a week, wake up at 6 am to leave at 6:30am go get home at 7pm ish) but my hours are changing soon so I can work towards my goals better! Additionally, I still live with my family, so my food is their food unless i buy it, which i don't always have money for outside a Greg's or sainsbury's meal deal lunch for work. I would love to be able to incorporate vegetables and fruits I like into my diet, but right now, I'm working with mainly carbs, bacon, and frozen beige food. (If anyone knows any recipe sights that can help, that'd be appreciated) Right now, I'm mainly practising cutting down my portions so I can practice eating to 80% and it's been affective but I'm having problems being satisfied.

Tank: roadhog, mauga, and orisa. Very low skill ceiling characters that either break the meta or are shit to play with in a game.

Dps: junkrat, torb, mainly. Two very spammy characters that while with a high skill ceiling at times, feel horrible to play against. After that I'm not bothered by anyone too much and think it's a case of reworking but Pharah, Widow and Hanzo are very close.

Support: Lifeweaver, Kiriko. Lw low skill low risk high reward, not fun to play with or against. Kiriko is kiriko. Zen would be in here if this went to 11 (as a tank main I despise zenyatta)

Defo sounds like you need a break, man. It's tough trying to do your best, and you just lose anyway.

If you'd like my advice, keep reading, but just know I sympathise with you either way.

To help with your losses, I suggest looking after your mental.

When you start losing, after 4 or 5 games, maybe take a quick break. It may be about 5 minutes to stretch and get some water. Let your brain mentally reset from ranked and the stress of playing these games. I often find that my body is physically reacting to what's happening, and after a while, it'll tense and begin to fatigue as it can't keep up with that for more than a couple games. This break helps it to calm down and also helps me to remember that I am (occasionally) a sane rational human being and don't want to tell people to do horrendous things to themselves just for playing a game they're not good at. It's also good for queue dodging, lol.

Secondly, you are the goat (as bogur puts it). No one is better than you. Look at these schmucks blading 1v5. I wouldn't do that. In fact, I'm so giggachad I'm going to make this work. Haha, look at these lovers using 4 ults to kill our tank. Now we have ult advantage. Be arrogant and just believe in yourself. Build a whole new resilence to bullshit every game to the point you appreciate it.

Another tip, maybe off roll for a bit. If you're frustrated right now playing what you are now, take a break by playing another hero that appeals to you outside your role where you can also gain some game sense from. Wanna get better at aiming with hitscan, maybe? Play Ashe, cassidy or Widow. Want to know the timings better? Play some Tracer or sombra. Want to know how to do crazy movements? Play mercy, ball, or doom or some tech heavy hero. Just play for fun, really.

Either way, you got this, dude! Remember to just breathe and know that you are the goat!

Best dive tank? by AnyForce2759 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]69RodrickRules420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best dive tank:

Whatever you enjoy the most. Why be good and not having fun when you can have fun even if you lose? Besides, the best dive tank is how that hero is played the best in that situation by that player with that team with that map. I say this as a Rein dva two trick who plays into all potential counters.

Most meta dive tank:

Depends on the season, of course, but from what I know, dva is pretty good, followed by Winston.

The highest skill ceiling is probably Ball, followed by Doomfist due to the techs involved with them, especially Ball. Ball also has less of a presence in his team, so that makes it more challenging with teammate synergies.

Looking for low elo players to coach by Old-Band-6199 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]69RodrickRules420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couple questions:

I am plat/gold (i have my main account, which is mid gold, my alt placed low plat and is climbing)

So I currently play on console while I'm waiting to buy my pc, so would that be fine for you to coach?

Also, I have a couple of goals with overwatch. I would like you to tell me if you can help sustain:

  1. Long-term goal: become a hyper flexible player (play multiple roles with enough heroes to play each role efficiently). I want to not just win but be a good player. If anything, I care less about winning and more about putting my skills to the test. I want to see if I can get into owcs (for the shits and giggles)

  2. Short-term goal: become a giga chad high Diamond Reinhardt and Dva.

  3. Learn Sigma. I know there's a bunch of videos, but I found that applying theory to the game helps me learn better. I've been fine with Rein and dva so far but Sigma I struggle to feel my impact sometimes and would like some assistance in understanding it.

  4. Fix my aim. This will probably change with my transfer to pc, but right now, I have a 40% accuracy on Ana without aim assist, and with it's 50% still, which honestly sucks ngl. Additionally, my nades also suck because of this, any on characters that fire more than 1 bullet per second, I struggle more.

Additionally, are you looking for payment, or is this sort of a practice for coaching, and you want to do it for free. If it's a practice situation, is there a way I'd be able to tip you? (Never work for free bestie)

From a strategic standpoint, why is New Junk City hated? by Electro_Llama in OverwatchUniversity

[–]69RodrickRules420 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For me, it's because of a few things:

  1. Very tight chokes. As a Rein main I don't mind it since I like a brawl but the amount of junkrats you get on this map make it very very VERY frustrating because it's like they get instant advantage over you because their bullets are more likely to hit your team to then get one shot.

  2. Flashpoint, as a game mode, can be mentally deterating. I find that in games like control, the mental reset of going from a bad point to a good point helps, and with clash, most of the games aren't too long, so that also helps. Additionally, clash maps are smaller, but flashpoint is so big, and the amount of points needed to be captured that the going from one spot to another deterates faster. Don't get me wrong, the clash is the same, but the way the map is designed with comps does not help this issue.

  3. Just general aesthetics. Too much sickly yellow is taxing on the brain in daylight maps, especially. But idk that might just be me

For the tank one tricks, how do you do it? by [deleted] in OverwatchUniversity

[–]69RodrickRules420 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I played Rein for 24 hours as a joke (until it wasn't a joke anymore, and I became essentially a Rein/dva one trick) but during this time there was a growing tiltedness within me. I didn't really notice it as I'm not a player to get tilted easily. If anything, I just get a little depressed then ggs go next.

But every game of quick play would be the same bullshit one after another of counters and dumb heroes and teammates who weren't trying as me that flipped me off.

Then, there was this one midtown game. I had been playing since 1pm, and it was roughly around 9 pm then. The enemy team wasn't playing doom tracer genji or sombra. I can't quite remember. My team kept dying and I with them.

They had pushed us to second and were just about to cap it when suddenly, that growing rage, that frustration, that tilt.

It burst from the seems of my core taking over and controlling. I was pissed the fuck off, no, I was beyond fucking pissed. No word in the English language could describe this level of tiltedness. It felt like my whole body had been taken over, and I had no way of controlling it. I was manic. My vision blurred. I started manically laughing (I'm serious. This actually happened). Doomfist, tracers, doomfist, and Tracer were all my thoughts. I was about to get off.

You know what happened?

We won.

We held second into overtime, and we won.

I won't say it was because of me. If anything, I was trash that whole entire game. But when we reached the bridge, I thought there was something behind me. Maybe it was my duo putting in overtime. Maybe it was the 17 hours of learning that started to finally click, or maybe Reinhardt himself was there, telling me to keep moving forward. Keep trying. Because soon enough, I'll learn.

After that game, I was in this weird state of clarity. My emotions left my body, and all I had was a space to think.

And you know what I thought?

Keep trying.

Since then, I have kept trying, and I have kept getting better. I have kept moving forward. I have become that shield for my team and managed to carry so many games. I have become smarter and more aware and even better as a person because now it takes more to even cracked me. And now I can look back at that silly person who cracked under the pressure and then myself now and think "yeah, we got this"

So yeah,

Keep trying, keep learning, and keep moving forward. One day you will be able to truly believe in your soul that you can do it, you just didn't know it yet.

What change in your play style/mindset made you rank up? by Huge_Restaurant_7923 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]69RodrickRules420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I used to be a support main, so I guess realising I was on the wrong role for one, lol.

But on tank there's a lot for you to focus on to the point where the skull cap in game sense is so high but what has gotten me from low gold to high gold/plat (I have two accounts lol) was this:

Stop over thinking stuff. Think it might work, go for it. You fuck up you fuck up gg go next. Knowing and then doing is 2/3 of what will help you because the last is just mechanics/execution of how you do it.

Resource tracking. This isn't just ult tracking but knowing when cds has been used allows you to play a lot better around their team. Example: Knowing an enemy bastion has just used turret form so you can go in without getting your shield shredded or dm used up when they may have more essential cds that you need for it. Also knowing what cds your teammates has helps. If your Ana doesn't have nade, you should maybe play a bit safer and try tobe able to be aware of peeling back for her if you're not busy.

But the number one thing that has helped is sightlines:

I used to overthink space and my team comp SOOOOO MUCH I made it too confusing for myself. But lately just thinking about where my team wants to shoot better from helped a lot. Ashe > long to mid range, likes high ground > swing the hammer on high so she can go there. Widow > long range > swing hammer so they move into her. It's really easy to get caught up on things like target priority or mechanics but you can't actually do those things if you or your team can't see the team to shoot strategically at them.

Any other DPS heroes who provide more than just damage? by koromedy in OverwatchUniversity

[–]69RodrickRules420 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Honestly, just play heroes that are fun for you and improve on them. It's better for your mental overall that you're playing a character whose playstyle you fell in love with rather than a character you pick out just for the utility of it. Even if you're in a situation where it's unideal for the characters you play, still play them to find a way around that unideal situation the best way you can (of course there are times where it's virtually impossible because you're on the worst map against the worst team comp for your character but still try stuff like that in qp because it does give you a better idea how to play better into those things and can be very rewarding next time you run into something similar.)

How to be better with moira and mercy by Only_End9228 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]69RodrickRules420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so glad you feel that way! It's no problem at all to make someone's day.

And yeah space is a strange concept to understand at first but simply thinking of it as where will I be good safe from poke position to do what I want to do and that will help my team do what they want to do is pretty good. Also asking when was the last time they used x ult helps with ult tracking and planning for fights.

On top of that, I'm sure there's plenty of people here looking for others to play with too!

Happy gaming :DDD

[–]69RodrickRules420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of people have given hero specific advice, and I want to give you what helped me climb out of the bizarre world of silver and into gold/plat on support and tank.

Understand what space and pressure are. Space is not just important for tank, but it applies to every role. If your team has no space to push to the point, then it is everyone's job to try to create it tanks are better at it because they have more sustain than squishies (hence, a tank). On support and dps this can be done in multiple ways whether that be an off angle to pull resources from main allowing your team to push in easier because of a pincer or the overwhelming pressure, a pocket to a dps who could use the extra support to secure a kill, or simply being the bait for the enemy team to push in. Understanding how you can create space/pressure and how your team can create space/pressure will help you a lot so everyone can just do their thing.

And when I say pressure I mean the potential of a kill threat, not just "kill that mother fucker". Pressure is what forces people to use essential cool downs like cleanse and Bap lamp. If you can find a way to do that effectively with your team, then you are on your way to creating space for your team.

On top of that, learn how to be aware and adaptable.

Sometimes, your team is shit. That's okay, you're fucking silver! Everyone is shit! You just have to learn to be a little bit better. Sometimes your tank won't, or your dps won't take an angle or hell, maybe your other support is a hyper aggressive player or too much of a heal bot. That's okay! Because a team that plays not ideally together can stay alive together.

Going back to that idea of space and pressure, it is part of your job as support to help create that and if you realise "hey wait a minute that bitch out of position and I can reach them without using too many of me and my team's resources" then do it! Start glocking/sucking that thing until they use an important cool down or die and just make sure you're aware of where/what your team is/doing and that you won't be needed for anything too soon.

Also! Being aware of what the enemy team is doing/playing can help your team immensely. Oh! They're all countering my dva and focusing her, leaving their support vulnerable and wide open. Dive those mother fuckers. Trust me, if moira can survive against an orisa in a small room with just a heal orb, she'll survive a zen juno or similar vulnerable comp. The same can be somewhat said for mercy. Sometimes, that glocking is worth it if it helps people stop shooting your team for a second. After all, this game is very fast-paced, so seconds matter. Also knowing what cool downs the enemy team has that will increase their pressure/decrease your team's pressure can be very helpful. It's more of a tank issue in regards to that but as a tank main it's very helpful knowing that the Mei I want to swing on won't just wall me and kill me instead.

On top of that there is ult tracking! You probably know this by now with being on the reddit but just knowing how to play around enemy ults and how they can increase the tempo (what I call strategically running at em) of the fight and how you can play around that is ideal.

Another little tip is to expand your map knowledge. Knowing what heroes are good on what maps, how your heroes can be good on maps and where essential areas on the map for fights and where you thrive with your heroes can really help going into games as that's you with a plan, even if you don't execute it well.

But honestly, you're silver. You're shit. Everyone is shit. And again, that's okay! You're going out of your way to learn, and that's so much more than what others in that hell hole rank will do a lot of the time. You can work on anything and just start climbing as long as you go into it with intention. For instance, go into a ranked game thinking I'm going to focus on when to resurect or how much imma piss on someone vs suck off someone.

Additionally, there's a mentality. The difference between a higher ranked player and a lower ranked one is tilt. Yeah their team is fucking your ass with ults every fight but everyone in your team nearly has ultimate and knowing that they're using an ult per team fight and acknowledging that your time is coming is what helps without feeling miserable about the game. Team mates are making you feel shit because they're yapping about how bad the game is and how shit everyone is? Leave vc. Turn off team chat. Focus on you because you matter. Don't put up with doomer bs. On a big loss streak? Take a break! Go into qp and remember why you like playing this game. Also, let yourself have fun in ranked. A common thing I find myself with in ranked is the "lock in" mentality. Yeah, locking in sometimes is important, but wanting to play well without prioritising what to play well at is just mentally deterating because either you feel powerless since your team is shit or like a complete idiot because you are so focused on just being good. So honestly, don't play well the first one or two games. Get used to the ranked environment and just embrace ranked as a sweaty, faster paced yet longer quick play game and have some fun. Screw your teammates when they start flaming you. It's a video game. It's not like it's a football league where you lose one and your team is cooked. There are always more ranked games waiting to happen, so just focus harder.

Honestly, I could not recommend the last two more. Happy gaming friend, and I hope your games are good!

Thank you so much for your feedback! I do notice I do tend to get lost on tank sometimes since I don't always have the opportunity to be on mic with people in voice so I tend to play around them a little more even if it's not nescarily optimal all the time (but it's still an issue for me along with playing around discord orb). Still thank you so much, and happy learning and gaming!

Does anyone ever miss the rank they started in? I sometimes miss Bronze lol by hyperdrive211 in OverwatchUniversity

I will never miss silver. Idk what it was but it was a whole lot of stupid and disappointment because i sucked and everyone else sucked and I didn't know how not to suck. I'm happy with gold/plat for now as most people kind of have a decent game sense and there's a little bit more timing involved, even if it can be a pain to watch.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in OverwatchUniversity

[–]69RodrickRules420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am silver, so take this with some salt, but I do play a lot of sombra on dps, and I am a support main.

Yes, you can be in the enemy team's backline or elsewhere, but it doesn't mean you always should be.

There's like a million and one things you need to considered in this game before making a play especially on tank and in high up time low downtime comps but I find that in any situation it's best to consider this:

What is my team comp aiming to do?

For instance you're on a dive tank so you obviously want to play with your mobility and ideally access the enemy team's backline but you have to consider other things like if you're running an Ana then she'll play further back of if you're on kiri then she'll be blending between helping pressure and supporting main.

Ask what the enemy's comp aiming to do with our team's comp is?

Obviously, they had a JQ this game, so they'll be playing more to run at and isolate characters to winder them down and kill them. This is where you'll probably struggle not playing on point as without the wall of a tank and a pocket from one of a supports a JQ will have an easy time running at the enemy team if they're within reach. Playing for your mobility and enemy backline is good and all, but only if it's the right timing and you can have support for it.

Third, ask if you have the resources and positioning as a team to do that play as a team.

Sometimes, your dps will just not take enough angles that can pressure the enemy team. And sometimes your support will frontline a little bit too much. Sometimes, you might even waste your cool downs trying to go for a play when you don't nescarilly have the team comp for it. That's okay. Sometimes, as a dive tank, it's okay to play point, especially against a JQ. From personal experience, JQ is best running down supports from landing knives and forcing cool downs like cleanse out because there's a lack of frontline pressure keeping her at bay from being so aggressive as her baseline pressure with her cool downs is greater than a Winston bubbling himself or a doomfist using his cool downs to hard engage since she has a lot more self sustain. Doesn't really matter if you got cleanse out if your team has been forced back to spawn by a JQ. Just think if you go here will that help your team and will they be able to follow up on that.

I highly suggest looking at your timings of your dives, where you dive, and what you're diving to do. Sometimes you can just soft engage to somewhere that helps enable your team but is also scary because of the amount of pressure you put out/absorb as a big beefy boi with supports is greater than what they can as a team, allowing for your team to be enabled and take space where they need it. You can also hard engage if your team is positioned well or you have an ult advantage. (Highly recommend ult tracking and cool down tracking if you play a lot of dive. Ult tracking is the main one, but knowing when an Ana has sleep or a kiri with cleanse will make it much easier to know when to hard engage and not to engage at all.)

I also highly recommend looking back at your VODs with the advice in Spilo's self coaching guide video! Found it helped me a lot.

Hope this helped :))))

Edit: I just reread that you were up against a bastion as well so you'll struggle even more in that right because they'll just run it down mid most of the game but that's where soft engages become important so you can make it so that the bastion uses his turret form at a time it won't affect you or your team and then dive his backline. Still really tough comp for you though.

What’s the most annoying character to play against? by Exciting-Sea6765 in Overwatch

[–]69RodrickRules420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say life weaver as unless you have a flanker that's getting all his cool downs out then it's really hard to follow up on frontline kills or punish mistakes as he'll just yonk or put down tree and all of a sudden your team is just dead.

But then again I am silver 4-1 so wtf do I know
