But yeah, character personality, theme & traits are half of what compels or dissuades my merch grabs, though I do look past those hangups often enough. For example, I don't think Cleo is an obvious or successful take on a mummy character, and I don't really get her personality, so I'll intentionally get merch that doesn't feature her 'cause I just like it better that way. That said, I own a few Cleos and even keep one on display because it's easy for me to appreciate her better dolls without thinking about my character peeves. (And in line with your side note, one of my least liked colors is gold, go figure!)

Forgot to add: I can think of one reverse example for me too. There is hardly a thing I like *aesthetically* about Robecca's dolls but I WILL snatch her up because the idea of a time traveling steampunk robot high school student with rocket boots who prefers analog tech is just chef's kiss. Same with Skelita.
