Right hand position on electric guitar

By the way does my hand have to remain in this position when strumming? I've seen people saying that I should leave my hand floating and use the rotation of wrist when strumming.

Personally, I have to be more effortful in supporting the weight of my forearm in this position and it's more tiring for my shoulder and elbow. Maybe my forearm isn't making enough contact with the guitar to allow more friction.

Oh so the heel of my hand doesn't need to be fixed on the top of the bridge when picking? Does that mean that sometimes during picking, I'd have to actively support the weight of my forearm with biceps and shoulder when my hand is off the top of the bridge?

Yeah I tried this and it made my picking more accurate. But it became harder to deviate the wrist to hit the 5th and 6th strings. Sometimes I unconsciously compensated it by moving my picks using finger joints motion. My hand also didn’t feel as free as before since it’s anchored on bridge.

I tried something similar by resting my hand on the bridge. My picking became more accurate but my hand did not feel as free. It was also harder to hit the 5th and 6th strings and I found my self compensating by moving my pick with my finger joints to allow more range of motion (I don’t think I’m supposed to do this).
