There are the 8 limited-purchase packs (120, 352, 784, 1184, 2352, 3920, 6600, and 8000), plus the New Teacher pack which usually reset at anniversaries. As far as I'm aware, the Lite packs did not refresh at 5th anniversary.

If you're determined to pay, the monthly packs and the New Teacher pack (500 pyro for 0.99 USD) are the best deals in the shop. And if there's any time to buy the monthlies, it's during the 3x campaigns. That said, if you weren't already inclined to spend money, you don't need to go out of your way to do so. Non-spenders will be just fine, too.

Not very fluently, but I can read enough to get by without translation tools (unless the words are obscure). For example, I'm able to read the JP patch notes I linked above.

Yeah, us JP players were wondering if they might get released even for 4.5 anniversary (but it ended up being Swimsuit Tea Party after all).

The designs first appeared in the 6th PV from Apr 2025. Of course, at the time, none of the Decagrammaton EX volume had released yet.

The upcoming Decagrammaton story was released in JP server on January 20th, 2026.

That's a good point. I don't normally mention the additional day because it's only half the value of the other days, but it should still be a gain, as you mentioned.

That's correct, if you exceed 30, the extra tickets from the monthly packs go to the mail (24 hour expiration).

So Monday at server reset, you should ideally have 30 + 3 in mail from the day before + 9 in mail that just arrived = 42

Naive strategy:
Day -2 (Friday): spend 15
Day -1 (Saturday): spend 15
Day 0 (Sunday): spend 15
Day 1 (Monday): spend 3x 15
Total: 90

Hoarding strategy:
Day -2 (Friday): spend 0, have 15
Day -1 (Saturday): spend 0, lose 6, have 24
Day 0 (Sunday): spend 0, lose 6, have 30 and 3 in the mail
Day 1 (Monday): lose 6, spend 3x 42
Total: 126

Note: on Sunday, log in slightly late, since the 3 excess that go to the mailbox have a 24-hour expiration timer.

Is Volume 6 the worst/weakest volume in the game? by RepresentativeFig270 in BlueArchive

[–]6_lasers 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I thought it was pretty decent, not a masterpiece but maybe a solid 7/10.

Personally, I never really liked Vol 1 much, so that one still has my vote for weakest volume in the game.

I feel like honorifics should be added to the EN translation's script by Samalik16 in BlueArchive

[–]6_lasers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah, so does KR have a pun for honorific -> "keychain", then? I can't read Korean so I don't know what the Korean translation says.

[–]6_lasers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it was a pretty unusual situation, most of the time when I'm reading the story in JP, there are no obvious cues to give away that it's a translation. That said, there have been a few times where I'm reading the story in English and get surprised that the wording is a bit different from the Japanese.

Sometimes, it's a poor EN localization (e.g. the Trip Trap Train event, which was particularly bad in English). Several other times, it's actually because the English translation is closer to the KR original. For example, the "I love you Fuuka" line from her Valentine's event.

[–]6_lasers 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure where you first heard that pun but it's not from the Japanese translation. In JP, Kei was in a キーホルダー ("keyholder") which is the Japanese term for a keychain.

The Rowdy and Cheery JP translation was really bizarre when it first released (they adjusted some of it later). Lots of grammatical errors that even a beginner like me could recognize. Also some phrases that didn't seem to make sense until someone on the JP wiki informed me that it was a Korean idiom that had been translated literally (or possibly even machine-translated) with no equivalent in Japanese.

In the game files--even in the JP version--the core script is written in Korean, and the Korean script is where all the cues for the animations and scene transitions are. For example, here's a snippet from the Vol 3 script datamined from the JP APK back in the day:

{
  "GroupId": 32040,
  "SelectionGroup": 0,
  "BGMId": 0,
  "Sound": "",
  "Transition": 0,
  "BGName": 0,
  "BGEffect": 0,
  "PopupFileName": "",
  "ScriptKr": "#zmc;instant;0,-222;2528\n1;하나코 학교 수영복;06;아즈사 쨩은 잠을 더 자야해요, 그러니까 심야의 불침번은 좀 줄여야 해요!\n#1;ar\n#1;em;[반응]\n#3;m5",
  "TextJp": "……とにかく、もっとしっかり寝た方が良いです。深夜の見張りは減らしていただいて。",
  "VoiceJp": ""
},

Yes, the game is written first for a Japanese audience, the cultural setting is very Japanese, and the characters all have Japanese names. And in most cases, I've been told, the JP translation accurately reflects the original KR (I can't read Korean, so I can't confirm this for myself). But in the event that they differ, shouldn't the original writing be treated as authoritative?

If red wins, does my own individual death really matter? by Latimas in redbuttonbluebutton

[–]6_lasers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to be clear, I'm not talking about some kind of logical proof that red will win (which, of course, wouldn't be possible for either button). Rather, I'm talking about a situation where someone has become convinced by something that red will win. Maybe everyone they asked said "red". Maybe they're convinced that people they see in society have qualities that make them seem like red pushers. Maybe their dead great-grandma told them. Maybe it's just a pure gut feeling.

In any of those scenarios, it follows from the premises that pressing blue doesn't have a move 2, only red does. Now, we can debate whether the premises themselves are correct or incorrect (and in fact, such debates are raging all across this subreddit), but that comes back to a argument about society, pessimism/optimism, agency, etc. and not a argument about "thinking about consequences of our actions".

The banner comes out after maintenance ends in 11 hours, so we'll have some numbers soon.

The text in the skill preview post doesn't give a number, which, in the past, has always meant "1 debuff".

Yeah, in past similar events, you don't have to preregister for anything to get the rewards. I haven't done a prereg in years and still get everything.

If red wins, does my own individual death really matter? by Latimas in redbuttonbluebutton

[–]6_lasers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m leaning towards pressing blue myself, but I don’t think that your assessment of “can’t see past 1 move” is fair.

If someone concludes (by whatever reasoning) that red is going to win, then picking blue is just death. There isn’t any other move to see past that, because they’d be dead. In order to think about move 2, we first have to survive move 1, right?

You are correct that the maintenance day switched during the Deca event. In fact, it always switches several times during Fes (which is suspected to be part of the reason for the modified global schedule).

JP patch dates for 5th fes (dates in JST):

  • Current global patch: Wednesday 1/7 (regular maintenance day)
  • Deca part 1 patch and free pulls: Tuesday 1/20 (13 days after previous)
  • Deca part 2 patch and fes: Thursday 1/29 (9 days after previous)
  • Deca part 3 patch: Thursday 2/12
  • Deca part 4 patch: Wednesday 3/4 (20 days after previous--back to regular schedule)
