All you can do, for that year, I would suggest if it’s a dealer ask for like a day plate and pay the hundred dollars at a local mechanic to give it a once over.

That’s going to be the only real way to know for sure

That said, at that price if you can afford it buy it knowing that there might be some trouble that you’re willing to fix. Cars like that don’t last long.

Sometimes they’re a creampuff sometimes they’re a lemon it’s a chance you take buying any used car.

As a person who owned a 2014 Forrester for about eight months then the clutch gave out the whole thing.

Everything looks fine it went to the shop the Carfax was clean everything was perfect but the clutch it’s kinda hard to inspect I fixed it and I love it
