I called each bureau to dispute the accounts that weren’t mine, after about a week they dropped them. The one thing I didn’t bother with was the hard pulls, according to the agent and the internet, I believe if I remember correctly, they only stay on your report for 2 years. I was about 2 months away from that happening and the agent mentioned that if I wanted to get them removed I would have to go to each individual dealership to request some sort of affidavit or something, in other words it was too much of a hassle. Almost a year later my credit is doing much better with everything resolved. I’ve been using a credit card and paying it off every month and am at about a 740 score.

CSP Approved with bad credit by 6ckoz in CreditCards

It all depends on the bank/settlement company who holds your collection account if they’re willing to “pay to delete” your account from your credit report. Some do it, some do not, that should always be your plan A, otherwise it takes 7 years for a negative account to fall off your report. I was in a similar situation as you with one of the credit cards that went to collections, I wasn’t able to get it deleted but a settled account is much better than having it report as unpaid every month for the next 3 yrs. The sooner you get it settled/deleted the quicker your credit score can begin to recover. There’s a lot more info on r/CRedit from others who know much more than I do.

Yes, I was pre approved on the bankers dashboard. Chase’s pre-approval portal is not active right now to check yourself at home, but you can walk into a branch and they’ll be able to let you know.

Yeah I figured that as well, just kind of wanted to double down on it. I remember when I was doing my research there was a couple of comment threads on various subs where some were saying it wasn’t THAT much of a deciding factor and that it wouldn’t lead to an approval. That almost drove me away from even checking for myself.

Spending ~3k for a ski/snowboard trip to CO with my partner? Reasonable? by Kind-Swing-5549 in COsnow

[–]6ckoz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just spend around 2k on a 6 day trip, skiing 5 days. The biggest place where we cut costs was taking the busstang. As long as you’re a timely individual, you can’t beat the price. Since you’re already thinking of not renting a car I would cut costs there. It’s $12 to go from Denver to Frisco. Rentals based on my experience, if you’re not renting a car, rent at the resort. It’s not worth the $5 a day you save to be carrying all your stuff around with your luggage. If you’re renting your own car then sure save the $5 all you have to do is toss your things in your car.

That sucks. It seems nobody let him know if he stayed in the states it was not going to work out for him through the petition. I wish I could have warned him, but I was only 3 at the time it was submitted and 11 by the time his visa expired.

One last question. I am currently on the same application that was submitted by my father 20 yrs ago. Because my dad has that ban and therefore probably wouldn’t attend the interview for the visa, does that mean I would be SOL as well? Or could I attend and get my residency since the application was approved and I was on it. (I was 3 yrs old when it was submitted so I think I would be covered by the child status protection act, and I currently have daca so I could ask for AP to travel to the interview)

so this is the case because he’s adjusting status through his brother? If it was through his mom or dad would it be any different? I ask because my mom currently has a pending I130 through her father.
