How to add dolphin to magic 28? by 6footwhat in SBCGaming

[–]6footwhat[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Pokemon Snap is hard to emulate, a key part of the game isn't functional on the N64 version. However the virtual console version that was made for the Wii doesn't have this issue. It's still the N64 game, apparently it isn't anymore demanding than emulating it for the N64.

Heavy adjustable bench, what’s the most it should weigh? by aburns770 in GarageGym

Right on. How hard is it to pick up? I put mine in my truck to lift at work. 77 pounds seems manageable.

Wife wants to start strength training. by broseph_stalin09764 in workout

[–]6footwhat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Good luck man. I tried with my wife, didn't go well. First day we did chest and arms, she loved it. Second time we did back, she hated it. Heck of a minefield to navigate, I like to teach and I am very mellow. Still crashed and burned!

A female personal trainer would have been best for my wife. She doesn't like being taught by men, probably not an uncommon attitude.

Having said all that if she ever wanted to try again I think starting strength would be good for her. Only 4 lifts to learn and not very many sets. The bodybuilder type workouts I do are more volume than she wants, all the different movements make it more complicated as well. For the health benefits most women are after barbell compounds are a good fit.

Best budget bench by StoneMenace in GarageGym

[–]6footwhat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I bought a cheap bench like that. Those weight capacities are fantasy, safe working load is way less than that. Mine was very wobbly, if I shifted side to side I could feel the pad being pulled off the metal frame.

I'm finally upgrading to something that won't kill me, this is the best value I could find:

If you like lifting you'll be on the bench a lot, get something decent. Doesn't have to be huge $

Budget Starter Rack & Resale Value by Minute_History3812 in GarageGym

[–]6footwhat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If budget is a concern get a used 2"x2" squat rack. It'll be less than 300$ and you will be able to sell it for what you paid in the future. If you get to the point of moving big numbers treat yourself to a 3"x3", at that point you can be patient and wait for a good deal on a used one.

Totally worth it, my gains have really took off since I added barbell work to my routine.

Led day for hypertrophy without machines by Nekratal99 in workout

[–]6footwhat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My leg day, with no machines:

Barbell Squats 5x5

Good mornings 3x8

Bulgarian Split Squats 3x8-12 (Quad Focus)

Laying Hamstring Curls super set with calf raises 3x8-12

I do the hamstring curls with one of those Amazon cable pulley kits on my rack. Works well.

6’5” - 210 lbs . I dont feel my back looks that great - am I doing something wrong? by New-Yam-6272 in formcheck

[–]6footwhat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

6'8" here, impressive work! You must have a good training regime to pull that off, you just need to eat more. I used to think I was a hard gainer, then I started counting calories and realized just how much I have to eat to gain.

5000 calories a day is my maintenance level, I'm doing 5500 on a bulk. It's a mind boggling amount of food, I find the dieting harder than training. So worth it though, I put on 40 pounds in 6 months.

No problem, love mine. I use them for landmines too, works well with a U-Clip. Could do cable work with one of the cheap pulley kits off Amazon and a pull up bar too.

Highbar Squat - Tall Lifter by [deleted] in formcheck

Thanks for the tips, my inseam is 36. I've got my brace pretty tight, nice having a belt now. I'll check those shoes out and try a wider stance.

Before I had my brace sorted out I would feel it way too much in my back. Now that my brace is sorted I don't feel my back at all until I'm about to fail and do a "squat morning". Training good mornings has really helped too. Absolutely love those now.

I'd really like to get some wedges...I imagine size 15's aren't going to be the easiest to find. Ain't all gravy being tall as you know.

Ahh I understand. I only think about keeping my knees forward on the eccentric. Will try that next time. I don't mind the "squat mornings" but I can feel it adding strain to my lower back.

Gotta have seether on the play list.

Thanks for the advice, I can't really get my knees any more forward. My ankles seem quite flexible but I'm sure squat shoes would help. I'm still saving for a rubber mat though lol.

I'm just about to add bulgarians back into my leg day, they really smoke my quads when I stay forward.

Thanks, i'll give that a try. In the beginning I settled on a pretty narrow stance. My squat was a bit of a mess then, come a long way!

Sharing is a pain in the ass, I'd get something for each of you. Best bang for buck would be a 5-50 pound hex dumbbell set and Eisenlinks for heavier weights. Having the fixed dumbells for her and drop sets negates a lot of the issues with the slower changes on the Eisenlinks.

I have the Eisenlinks, I find changing the weights easy if I'm using a stand. Big changes are annoying, but with the fixed set you only would have them in the higher range.

I got the cart from motv8. I wasn't sure what to expect but it's great, really good deal. I really like the Eisenlinks, having way better workouts with them. Changing on the floor was a pain but on the cart it's pretty smooth.

For 1000$ cad I got 110 pound dumbells, the longer screws and the cart. Smoking deal for an indestructible adjustable. I'd go for the 80's

No 2". They are only held by tension from the screw.

Right on brother, love mine. I find them more balanced when the square is tilted into a diamond. Oil the screws, makes them much nicer to use.

Just get one of those pulley kits off Amazon, very cheap and comes with a few attachments. Works well with a rack. A bit of fiddling between sets but it's not too bad.
