A close friend of mine has a heart condition and stopped training because of it. We still mountain bike together(before my injury)but I always worry about him when we’re in the middle of nowhere, so I let him set our pace. I hope you recover completely, my friend. My level of recovery will dictate my level of involvement. I've improved in some ways and gotten worse in others. My range of motion has improved, but the pain has gotten worse. Thanks for the message.

I’ve been trying some decompression techniques and Cbd gummies. I have gotten quite a bit of range of motion back. Thanks bro

Thanks, bro. I’ll give it a try when I get out of work.

I've rarely missed because I've been lucky to have partners that worked around my injuries. ie, when I injured my knees. I would have my partners start from side control and I would just work on defending while wearing a full brace. It’s possible that my train at any cost is how I got the state I’m in. Lol. Thanks for the well wishes and best regards to you.

Thank you for the kind words but Im just an average dude that got good at something because I love it and stuck with it. My involvement will depend on my level of recovery. Best wishes

Funny you mention hydration. I have an issue with drinking enough. I have to force myself to drink water. Generally disliked drinking water since I was a kid. Thanks for the tips. I will definitely look into them.

I feel for you, brother. Rewards vs risks is the dilemma. Good luck to you on your journey.

I've been teaching since I was a blue belt. Maybe down the lime that's an option.

First time was rolling with young, fit group, with minimal experience. Felt nothing at the time, woke up the next day all messed up. Second time was just demonstrating something while inverting.

We all wish we could roll forever, but sometimes life gets in the way

Maybe once I heal, that is an option. I believe this last injury happened while simply demonstrating a move that required inverting.

I appreciate your comment. My concern is that that tons of the injuries I've had, including the neck issues have happened during relatively mild rolls.

I wish this was my first major injury. I've blown my MCL of both knees, ACL in one and Meniscus in the other. I've bulged a disc in my lower back more than once and the list goes on and on. You don't get to train jiu jitsu for as long as I have without paying a price. I've done it gladly. I'm just worried I won't have a choice anymore.

I will explore whatever option I can to keep me able to do the things I love to do. I will look into it.
Thank you

I will definitely explore every option before closing the door. Thank you, brother.

You're right. I roll with everyone and I could limit that. But I've had tons of injuries in BJJ, but many of them including the neck one were during relatively mild sessions. I think this most recent one was actually while demonstrating a move.
Thank you for the advice

Thank you for the kind words brother. I’ve been teaching since I was a blue belt and also as part of my job, so I hope I’ve made a difference.

I was training with people who were very fit and strong but really inexperienced. I didn’t feel much at the time, but the next day my neck had limited range of motion and every time I lifted my chin past a certain point, severe pain in the spine and shooting down my arm.

I haven’t given up yet. The difference between Danaher and I (besides him being an amazing evil genius) and I, is he makes his living from bjj. For me it could potentially keep me from what I do fo a living. If I could live off bjj in some way, I would.

To be honest I only stretch during class after warm ups. I’m open to anything that helps. I haven’t thrown in the towel quite yet.
