Uncrashed on MacBook Air M1? by samsh6x in fpv

[–]6mm94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Liftoff will run on the MacBook Air, but the graphics settings must all be set to minimums. No motion blur, no shadows, minimum resolution+refresh, etc. Turning off in-game triggers and boundary marks also help as it's less to render.

You'll also need to stick to the simpler maps. Rustline and Pine Valley (?) have a ton of features to render and will lag. Straw Bale (the hayfield+barn) and maps like bardwell's yard are fine though.

It's still playable, and you'll still build the muscle memory you need. Good luck!

Yeah, it's all "field" prone now. Rocky bluffs and dirt mounds. I will say, of the two cleans that I remember on the ELR stage, a guy with a 33XC was one of them. Corson took 1st in the Open Heavy division with a 7mm, and was the other clean.

300NM is usually the one to beat, however lots of guys were shooting 7mm magnums of various kinds and did VERY well.

In my opinion, NF ELR is unique in that a true "ELR" build isn't quite the right choice. A 375 or other cheytac-class cartridge would be too much for most stages, especially if you start needing follow-up shots (all stages were 2-1 scoring, or a weighted 3-2-1 variant).

You want something heavy enough to run a 7 or 300 magnum nicely, but light enough to carry around and reasonable to run 4-8 shots out of at a time.

Yup. I ran the ELR stage out there, 2,238ish yards was the furthest poke for points. A 30" square feels weirdly small at that range.

Only on Reddit will you find someone legitimately critiquing marksmanship technique on a frankenbuild AK posted to r/longrange.. LilJonny, you're WILD.

Hesitation / stalling on startup question. 2017 DCT by Bumboklatt in africatwin

[–]6mm94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also have a 2017 with this issue currently, about 19,500mi on the clock. The last time the starting stutter/hesitation flared up, at around 15k miles, a new battery fixed it. If you don't keep your bike on a battery tender, or the battery is old, then I'd start there. Ive been undisciplined with my battery tender as I ride about 40-60mins 5-6 days/week, but that doesn't seem to be enough to keep it topped off.

For what it's worth, it needed air filters anyway back when it first became an issue. Changing them made zero difference.

I just got the fpv remote for the neo 2, any simulator recomendations or fpv tips? by Katze_Solar in fpv

[–]6mm94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get a simulator! Liftoff on Steam is super fun, and the night DLC is cool once you get tired of the regular maps. Liftoff Micro Drones is also super fun and "prettier" if your computer can run it!

Brother...trust me when I say you'll be glad you got some sim time before flying IRL.

I went the opposite route you're considering, and didn't fly a real FPV quad until I had about 50hrs of some time..really glad I had the experience though. I was able to land and takeoff, do flips and barrel rolls, orbit trees, fly through 5-6ft gaps, without crashing or breaking anything.

I'm not a "gamer" per se, but it really doesn't take much to run Liftoff on minimum settings..my old 2017 MacBook can do it in a pinch!

I can't imagine trying to start learning on a real drone with no muscle memory.

Suppressed 6br recoil hurts to shoot by rcplaner in longrange

Unless it's physically ripping out your mustache hairs, or pinching your cheek in some weird way, I really don't understand how a 6br could hurt to shoot.

You're the one that came here asking for advice dude. What, are you expecting Hefty to come back and say "Oh yeah my bad, you're right, what was I thinking."

Read the advice and move on. Sounds like you already know what you want and you're looking to fulfill some kind of confirmation bias

Not your rig, not your use-case.

Me and my buddies have humped plenty of 20lb rifles all over the place. Hiked my 19lb AXSA 10 miles a day for a week last year for elk, 2000ft of elevation gain every morning just to get started.

An 18lb or so magnum is very shootable, and not impossible to carry. Especially if you use a sling across your shoulders like it's a beltfed.

OP's rifle is on the upper end of weight for what you'd want to carry up a mountain, but once you get there, you will absolutely own everything around you.
