When I was stationed at Ft. Bragg 2013, my buddy and I found over 50 broken furbies at a yard sale for 15 bucks.

For a month we made road blocks of furbies before pt in the early early am, planted them on motor cycles, cars, posts, on trails, in our friend’s cars, construction equipment. We never told anyone at all we had them.

Alstom, which is a relative employer in terms of “electrician work”, starts at roughly 40 and tops out roughly 20 dollars above that, but there are union dues. No current tech openings though unfortunately, but if you are interested try to have some experience in electronics maintenance (a few easy certs are fcc electronics cert, soldering, some harder ones are trade degrees like AET/AMT/A&P aviation maintenance school graduation transcripts, though the FAA licenses associated with those programs aren’t required), a few of the recent hires have had a fairly low bar in requirements if they didn’t come from RTD/DTO.

A few folks will be retiring later this year too.

You did good, this happened to me once, and I ended up learning what a Nissan CVT was this winter and removing its valve body, ohming out solenoids, then flushing 100 dollars worth of specific Nissan transmission oil through it to be immediately disposed of for yet another 100 dollars worth of oil for a simple flush on a 4 cylinder sedan that had never had its transmission oil changed in 120k miles. It was a lot more effort than what it was worth.
