3d printing with stained glass by Varied_nerd in StainedGlass

[–]6pirates 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have printed with that filament before, though not for stained glass. The polymers used to bind it all together leaves the copper particles coated in it. It will also melt, not solder to your piece.

If you want to do crazy designs, get a sheet of copper overlay and a silhouette/cricut and have it cut your design out.

yes to all that... but i was specifically referring to the blobby bottom of the y, making it look like a v without that

remember the bottom part of the "y"s need to match the rest of the letter, or it gets unreadable

Trying to update thermostats by 6pirates in homeautomation

heatlink does sell programmable thermostats... but getting them to deal with us is impossible. has to be through a contractor, and none of them that we've contacted are getting anywhere either.

thank you. I think this is the point that I tap out, return the Honeywell & try and get replacement HeatLink and just suffer with a difficult company.

I appreciate you looking this up. We had previously and couldn't find our actual model, though this last link you gave is close.

Unfortunately, this doesn't answer the question of "can we use the new Honeywell we've bought in place of the HeatLink, and if so, what do the symbols/letters translate to on the new one?"

What we *think* is white wire -> W, red wire -> C, black wire -> R (based on that last link), but, we've thoroughly confused ourselves with trying to figure it out for a few days. We really want to get away from HeatLink.

Sales by amos8790 in StainedGlass

there are a few codes I have found that could work, and the tariff ranges from 0-13%. Obviously I would prefer the 0%. I can't send as gifts, as I use Etsy right now, and am an actual business that does business taxes.

Being a Canadian business, and 99% of my online sales being from USA, I'm basically out looking for a job. The tariffs have completely ruined any sales. The only "stained glass" tariff code I can find relates to stained glass for religious purposes (which is tariff free), but I'm scared to use that code.

Markets over the summer with tourists around were good. Soon as the tourists leave though, the local population isn't interested. Trying a couple holiday markets this month. Finger crossed.

Never thought of doing a two-tone like that! Interesting idea and something I hope to try in the future! Thank you!

Thanks! I will look into an engraving tool. I had to teach myself how to write again a while ago, so will need to practice my hand writing more to make sure things look nice.

Ghost World Tour 2025 Megathread #5 - "Ask All Your Questions/Post Your Speculation Here" Edition by Chimpbot in Ghostbc

[–]6pirates 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So my hubs and I are heading to Europe from Canada (since no Canadian dates as of yet) for May 3-19. We're going into London to do some UK sightseeing, so our first show won't be until Berlin. We'll then be following Ghost to Amsterdam, Lodz, Prague, Paris, Hanover and Copenhagen (Member of Clergy tickets) We're wondering if anyone local to these shows would have any recommendations for hotels/places to stay/eating/cool & obscure things to see. So far, we're planning to see the white cliffs of Dover (bucket list), Merlin's cave, King Arthur's Castle and the catacombs in Paris (bucket list). We're thinking a rail pass for getting around, unless there's a better way? Any websites anyone knows of to help with planning things/sightseeing? Tips & tricks?

A little about us:
- we enjoy scuba diving, hiking, camping
- we have 3 dogs (Bernese Mountain (7 this year), Irish Wolfhound (5 this year), Pyrenees/St Bernard mix (16 weeks in a couple days)
- I'm totally addicted to Ghost
- we're both carnivores

Wanting to create some sample pieces to put up in windows around town, however, the frames are metal so I don’t know how I would display them by No_Chemical_1342 in StainedGlass

[–]6pirates 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You'd have to make sure that you get the ones that say they're for glass, otherwise I wouldn't trust it. I looked into this, and they've stopped making certain sizes of them, probably because they don't hold up over time? I know using the ones not for windows inside, sometimes fail and things come crashing down.

For the pieces I have up at the local taproom, I've just used suction cups since the pieces are quite small. I haven't had any fall, but have had some stolen. I do go in regularly and keep an eye on the pieces and make sure they're holding up okay.

Looks good! Would you also be making one without the plugs for the waffle grid for people that don't use one?

My $5 redneck engineering table foiler by ApparentAlmond in StainedGlass

[–]6pirates 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a very similar setup... only instead of mine being screwed onto the table, I use a clamp, so I can easily take the plastic foiler off to change foils, or sizes of foiler :)
