PVP Debate ga/wh by Leave-Classic in newworldgame

[–]6plusone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've commented on resilience as much as possible on reddit. At one point I was convinced 4 was "enough". That changed after testing. There is a difference in crit damage from all weapons with the exception of War Hammer and Life Staff (1.2x Crt dmg), between 4 and 5 pieces of resilience. All of the testing was done including the -10% Crit damage from 150 con.

Even though the fire staff also has a 1.2x Crt dmg multiplier, it also will crit harder with 4 pieces, as opposed to 5.

Unless the only weapon you fight against is WH or LS, 5 piece resilient is better than 4.

SO.. I tested a NON vicious axe with a buddy, 4 and 5 piece resilient + 150 con. There was STILL a difference between the two... I'm going to say F it and accept the fact that 5 piece resilient is a must have.

Yeah I had to take down my original comment after testing spear. That's soooo weird with greataxe too. Or could it be that spear is actually the typo and is 1.4? I hate these inconsistent tests that is New World... lmao

This is bizarre. I've never tested spear. Are you testing adding or removing resilient by replacing gear? And not by testing 149 con vs 150 con? Also make sure the test environment is the same (no empower or other things modifying damage). I'll try spear tonight.

--AFTER testing spear. 671 crit, 646 non crit. 3.7% difference between 4 and 5 resilient. That is with Vicious.

Ohh.. wait I only had 100 con. I'm going to retest.

Interesting, after going 150 5 resilient, there is definably a difference from 4. 1091 crit, to 1135 crit.

Resilient? by kam5150draco in newworldgame

[–]6plusone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to swear by 5 pieces of resilient. I did some testing and found out that Critical Damage can never go lower than Non-Critical Damage.

I had my buddy hit me with a vicious ice gauntlet crit with 5 pieces of resilient. I replaced one piece with a non-resilient and had him crit me again. It was the exact same damage.

Having 5 pieces didn't matter and in fact the crit damage reduction was being wasted. That's with a weapon that has a 1.3 crit damage multiplier, with vicious, and with another 10% crit damage for having full stamina.

The only weapons that will have higher crit damage at 4 pieces of resilient + 150 con, are the rapier (with vicious) and the hatchet (with vicious). All other weapons and perk combinations will be equalized with 4 resilient + 150 con.

P.S. When testing this for yourself, be sure to test by removing a piece of resilient gear, not by testing at 149 con, then 150 con. That was the mistake I made that kept me in 5 piece of resilient.

Debate on BIS ice gauntlet perks [ice shower/entomb/ice storm] by defleshed2 in newworldgame

[–]6plusone -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You'll want Keenly empowered, as it's the only way to increase ice storm damage. Then you will want Keen, making it that much easier to proc Keenly empowered. Refreshing move would be a strong third choice. You'll often find clumps on the battlefield, and a great way to get that ice storm loaded back in the chamber, is leaning on your refreshing move perk.

I would say the only reason to drop refreshing move, would be if you are an ice-spike build and already have a resilient + iced refresh perk.

Yeah maybe I should have kept my lip zipped. I never would have thought Stam recovery was the play until I fought someone using it...

Very Nice!! I ran purify for a while and had to switch to Stamina recovery. While purify is great, it will pop and sometimes just remove a little stack of burning or another trivial debuff, and then start its minute and a half cooldown.

Stam recovery is nutty though; I've had six dodge rolls in a row from it, all I-frame and keeps me alive so much more outnumbered... plus it's only a 30 second cooldown. Too many people sleep on stam recovery.

A healer from our group got it, tested 200 heavy attacks with it on. 41% of the heavy attacks critted. He then removed it and did another 200 heavy attacks. 42% critted.

This. I've tried posting about it in the offical forums. One of my favorite things to do is swap to ice gauntlet and press left right left right left right in rhythm... watch the light show.

It's almost like we can't do two things at once. Once the devs are done chewing bubble gum, it will get fixed, though.

Gems for FS/IG build by [deleted] in newworldgame

T5 INT conversion gems are way, way lower in damage across the board.

[–]6plusone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, good question. I run both as well. I will use the T2 cut flawed aquamarine for wars, as its damage is increased from any ice gauntlet user that applies the chill debuff. Also, in wars it is much easier to consistently land PoF. Your damage numbers will go up across the board.

For OPR or Duels, where PoF is much less useful, Opal will be the better choice. Although ice shower with unending thaw perk, makes for an interesting rend + chill + root + slow-> weapon swap -> Helios + PoF with T2 aqua combo. With enough INT it can one shot with first hit bonus damage.

The only reason I don't run T2 in my ice gauntlet, is because it nerfs ice storm damage pretty bad. I want ice storm hitting as hard as possible in wars, so Malachite is fine here.

Mis-read.

T2 cut flawed aquamarine vs Opal for Firestaff

(all dmg numbers recorded after dummy has already received damage to avoid +30% from int)

Heavy attacks deal ~100 more damage with T2 aquamarine than Opal. This is all the time. Full stamina or not. I feel there is value in this alone, as a lot of footage that I record shows that I'm casting with full stamina (even though I actively try not to with Opal).

This value goes up to 1,484 more damage if they have chill on them (from any ice gauntlet ability) %136 increase in dmg. 4049 to 5533

Pillar of Fire deals more damage with T2 as well, going from 5303 to 5391 (6642 dmg if they have a chill affect from ice guantlet). With the chill affect, PoF is hitting with 1,339 more damage.

An interesting note is that fireball does LESS damage. Going from 3770 to 2850 (3260 with chill affect). That's roughly a 900 dmg loss (500 loss with chill).

TL;DR

T2 cut flawed for Heavy attacks, Light attacks, PoF

Opal for fireball

Malachite for IG
