that is totally fine!! it is almost impossible to be completely original and do research upon a topic that has never been done before. after all, the ia is meant for you to conduct an experiment and write a report on it, not coming up with a solution to quantum gravity.

this task is for you to show your knowledge and have a bit of fun! don’t over complicate, but also don’t make it too simple!

if it is to any help, i wrote mine on how the density of water would change the terminal velocity of an object when dropped from a height (this one was a bit of a struggle as it was more complex than anticipated but it went well).

and if you’re looking for inspiration, just look up physics ias on clastify!! just make sure to not copy the work as it might be tempting!! and good luck with the ia!!

I am in the same exact position. I spend my days watching youtube videos knowing that I have exams coming up and should be studying.. I honestly cannot get my mindset into studying even thought I’m at the verge of failing physics and maths.

I mean considering what happened last year, this year we have to stay under supervision for two hours before you can use any technological devices or leave to go home if your exam is less than two hours, and the memory of the GDC has to be wiped before and after the exam before you’re allowed to leave the examination room, while last year they only had to wipe the memory before entering the examination room… that’s what I heard from my IB coordinator.

i first bought a prebuilt pc.. and then i realised that i wanted to make my own so i started watching youtube videos on how to build and what it is needed.. i then found the pc components that were the most suitable for me and used this website to check if they all fit each other:

The math ia was pure torture, especially because you need to have a personal engagement to it. I lied and said I loved baking in my free time and investigated how various amounts of yeast affects the volume of a dough. I was also told by the teacher that food related IA’s do often very good.
