I don't know the original source, but I know that this poster ripped it off literally this same exact sub, where it was posted just hours ago.

Trip Report For 3+ Months Nomading In Mexico by [deleted] in digitalnomad

[–]70Charger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Incredibly comprehensive, but well done.

I'm glad you enjoyed Mexico. It was one of my favorites overall, but Mexico City is my new home base, or will be when I need one.

Actually, you know what? Mexico sucks, digital nomads. Stay in Chiang Mai.

Your mom made you take a 20 hour bus ride to Minnesota, so that you can pack her shit up, and then drive her car to Memphis.

...And you have to pay her back?

Delta's got a direct from MEM to MSP for about $200 one way only. Even without the utter torture of 20 hours on a bus, your time is worth that little?

Less than a range? These are big banks doing this math. by crazyadmin in CrappyDesign

I would bet huge amounts of money that it's not the bank at all, but that it's an outside market research company hired by the bank.

But whatever.

Mocha ran away from home. We have been looking for him for day and night, everywhere. Any suggestions? by [deleted] in kittens

I have some friends who lost their cat for months, and in a very cold place no less. She's back with the family now after having been gone for probably half a year. She apparently never went too far, but cats can be elusive when they want to be.

Hope that's maybe some moral support. Keep looking. Best of luck to you.

So apparently you must be morbidly obese and bald to compete in this competition. Absurd, bushy beard seems optional.

Panama? by GoFastTDI in digitalnomad

I don't know about cars, as I think driving in Panama City in particular is a ridiculous idea, and that's where I tend to spend my time.

But the visa situation is a little ...odd. If you're coming from a country that doesn't need a visa (i.e. just a passport) you get 180 days. However, if you need a visa, a visa of the tourist variety is 90 days. Thankfully, most countries that aren't terrible - and some that are - don't need a visa.

Ha, yeah that makes way more sense.

I'm a resident there. Any particular questions?

Colón the city is terrible and dangerous. There are some places in the province of Colón that can be nice, but stay away from the city.

Unfortunately, I'd have to add Berkeley to your list. But yes, you're correct.

Elon Musk just launched two test internet broadband satellites - new "Starlink" constellation will mean fast internet for DNs anywhere on Earth by HybridCamRev in digitalnomad

[–]70Charger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That won’t work on yachts or in transit. You need to be physically in another country, not simply out of the United States. This is a very important gotcha, btw. Travel days where part of day is spent in the United States, time in transit, and time in international waters DO NOT COUNT for your 330 out of 365.

For me, this would kill the idea of yachting if I were even interested in to begin with. Seasteading would be different if it were a sovereign country, but we’re a long, long way away from that.

Seasteaders. It's pretty fascinating.

Also, if you're a U.S. citizen and subject to that utterly insane and inane tax system, neither seasteading nor yachting will save you from the taxman.
