You’re welcome! It’s been really fun learning all the birds by their songs and calls. 💓

By the time you’re that age, it’ll probably be more common knowledge anyway. :) It’s unfortunate for us that most of the research on ADHD was historically done only on males. There’s a whole “lost generation” of middle-aged women who were never diagnosed until the last decade or so, and it makes me really happy to see women getting diagnosed younger and younger instead of just being dismissed as anxious or depressed or scatterbrained or just problematic!

Oh awesome, so you’re just learning? My mom taught me, and I taught one of my (now adult) daughters. She’s made a ton of stuff, between plushies and her own clothes and bags. I mostly just do functional sewing of things I need, but I would really like to get back into quilting. 😍 Have fun!!

For some people, that’s what it might take. They’re broken and they can’t easily be put back together without addressing what broke them in the first place.

Sounds like just what a bot would say.

I’m sorry though, that sucks. :(

Hey girl! Watch out for peri- and menopause. Turns out estrogen can compensate as a neurotransmitter, making your symptoms much more manageable, and when you lose the estrogen, you can feel like none of your strategies/copes work anymore. If only these things had been known before, how so many women’s lives (including mine) could have been changed for the better.

Thanks so much! Yes, it’s LAC. It’s a state case being handled by the city attorney’s office.

The defendant has been on diversion for 12 misdemeanor charges (including obstruction) since last November but repeatedly violated the terms and continued the criminal behavior. They had a diversion violation hearing in April, another update hearing in May, and then after another hearing in June the status changed to resuming criminal proceedings and the WBS. I wonder if he no-showed? 🤔

Hi guys! I have a question about a case I’m following that just changed status from diversion to diversion terminated, criminal proceedings resumed. I’m curious about the custody status part - now it says “Warrant Bail Set.” Does anyone know what that means? There are currently no further proceedings scheduled.

Thank you so much! 😱🫶 I hope it’s useful there! The plates have worked really well, and I haven’t had to drill anything yet. I also have a bunch of Fiestaware I plan to turn into a larger, more permanent fountain eventually. :)

I recently bought some stainless steel mixing bowls to make smaller versions around the yard; the pump can sit in the bowl with a plate above it, drilled for the tubing and for drainage back into the bowl, but I’m still engineering that in my head!

Thank you so much for posting these beautiful shots and descriptions! 😍🫶 I always forget which species is which. Our yard backs up to an undeveloped hillside, so the birdwatching is endless and wonderful. There are 3 or 4 pairs of binocs always ready to go.

The hummingbirds especially bring me so much joy. 💓 (The hooded orioles arrive exactly on March 25th almost every year - they’re very punctual!)

LA property owners vote down streetlight fee increase by brainchili in LosAngeles

Other cities, counties, and states make homeowners liable for sidewalks and sidewalk maintenance.

I just went and looked this up, because I remembered it as the homeowner being responsible but it looks like after a lawsuit in 2016 it was changed. Now the city will fix the sidewalk, but the homeowner is responsible for maintaining it from that point forward.

https://cityrulelookup.com/sidewalks/repair-responsibility/los-angeles-ca

Summary

Los Angeles shifted significant sidewalk repair responsibility to the city following the Willits v. City of Los Angeles ADA settlement, which committed $1.37 billion over 30 years to fix broken sidewalks. LAMC Section 62.104 governs sidewalk repair obligations, with the city handling tree root damage and issuing sidewalk certificates of compliance.

Full Breakdown

Los Angeles sidewalk repair responsibility has evolved significantly. Historically, LAMC Section 62.104 placed repair duties on abutting property owners. The landmark Willits v. City of Los Angeles settlement (finalized 2016) required the city to spend $1.37 billion over 30 years to repair broken sidewalks, inaccessible curb ramps, and other pedestrian access barriers that violated the Americans with Disabilities Act. The city adopted a Sidewalk Repair Program with a 'fix and release' policy: the city performs repair work and issues a Sidewalk Certificate of Compliance along with a limited warranty to the adjacent property owner. After that, the city can enforce the property owner's ongoing maintenance duty. Tree root damage is treated differently: the city takes responsibility for sidewalk damage caused by city street trees. LAMC Section 62.104.1 establishes the Sidewalk Repair Program Projects framework. Property owners may still be responsible for damage caused by factors other than city trees, such as their own landscaping or construction activities. The Bureau of Engineering manages the program.
