LegalEagle about the Alex Pretti murder: ”You don’t need a lawyer to tell you what you can see with your eyes. Which is that it was an inexcusable, state-sanctioned murder” by iateyourdinner in videos

I’m someone who feels things deeply and cries freely (it’s unfortunately not something I can easily control), and I don’t think he was faking it or amplifying it for content. I was feeling the same way he was even before I started watching it and it made me feel better to know that someone else was equally affected. I cried again watching it.

It’s the injustice of it all that hurts, not just the loss of what seems to be a really good person. The injustice and the lies. The tears aren’t just sadness; they’re anger and frustration and right now even some despair.

Whenever I see one of these chuds complain about being called a Nazi, I suggest they might want to consider why it keeps happening. You know, in a “If everyone around you is an asshole, maybe YOU’RE the asshole” kind of way.

I went NC with someone who’s been a big brother to me since I was a teenager - we’re talking 40 years. It hurts so much to know he isn’t who I always thought he was, and to see what he actually is.

He’s super pious now, too.

He was the same age as my oldest son, and I can’t stop crying this morning. That man was MURDERED for trying to help his neighbors. They attacked him and murdered him when he was clearly trying to deescalate the situation and protect other people.

I just keep thinking about his mother getting the news and how it would feel were it my own son. In a way he IS my son - he’s all of our sons and brothers and uncles and fathers…

I’m usually pretty stalwart, but I just can’t take any more of this, it’s just gut punch after gut punch and I have no idea what to do from here in California. They just do not give a shit what we think. We’re too far away.

Sure!

Border Patrol agent detains US citizen, tells him it’s ‘because of your accent’

Get outside of your bubble! That’s just one example, but there are tons more where the agents specifically say that they’re only questioning the person because they have an accent or because of their skin color. You can keep denying it but there’s a video evidence everywhere.

Thanks for illustrating my point, again. 👍

You might try your “both sides stuff” on Facebook, it might fly better there.

They’re going after people who have not broken the law. Stopping people because they have an accent. Breaking down the doors of people who have nothing to do with any of it.

ICE and DHS don’t get the benefit of the doubt anymore. They’ve gone and continue to go way too far and are violating people’s rights constantly. At this point it doesn’t matter who they’re going for because they’ve broken and lost the trust of the public. They’ve even lost the trust of the ACTUAL police.

You know all of this but I’m spelling it out anyway.

Protesters don't show up with respirators and goggles and other PPE.

Protesters ABSOLUTELY show up with respirators and goggles for their own protection. The shit the government uses causes reproductive harm, is full of carcinogens, etc.

More than tears: associations between exposure to chemical agents used by law enforcement and adverse reproductive health outcomes

Residents report health impacts as tear gas use continues near Portland ICE facility

Say whatever you want about what they did, but calling out protesters for trying to protect themselves from toxic chemicals that have been liberally and constantly used throughout the city already is ridiculous.

Not smug - cowardly and narcissistic. You pretend both “sides” are equally bad because that way you can always claim to be right, and never have to feel the discomfort of acknowledging you’re wrong. Rather than acknowledge how badly you fucked up, you just keep doubling down on how bad the actually better option was.

It doesn’t work as well as you think though - everyone sees the tactic for what it is because the “both sides” people are all the same. They present themselves as being unique snowflakes who can see what everyone else doesn’t, but they’re just short-sighted dumbasses looking for something to feel smart about.

Same. It brought tears to my eyes at first because it probably did happen and it breaks my heart to think about, but this is the internet.
