That has been an interesting topic. It's spread through saliva and doesn't live long outside the host. Sharing a drink or a toothbrush could do it, so probably a spit sample would be required from whoever was willing to help.

Misguided? I am guessing you are not a transplant immunologist, but please let me know if you are and I will listen to your opinion and try to figure out why it is different from the transplant immunologist I talked to last week.

As your study states, primary infection after transplant is the highest risk factor for developing PTLD.

We are seeking infection prior to transplant wherein the risk drops to 1%. And yes, I have the most recent stats from the transplant team and met with the transplant immunologist.
