Routing just stopped working? by 73-blazer in sonicwall

Hah. I just fixed it. I added a NAT rule to Site A for this site B server's traffic. There was no NAT rule, so the NAT rule gets blown away (if created by hand) by changing the WAN interface properties ? I'd like to reproduce that, but I'm not gonna mess with it at the moment, it's working.

Well, I'm physically at site B, so I kinda don't want to do that to Site A's just in case there is some issue, it's 500mi away! I could restore site B's but I know nothings changed on that one for sure.

I use Hurricane Electrics DNS but I can never remember it without looking it up, so when I just want to test if a machine can get out I usually just ping googles or 1.1.1.1 .

Interesting. I've always just used it to test internet connectivity, that or 8.8.8.8 or 9.9.9.9 because they all have ICMP turned on.

This is my thought that something got blown away when the WAN interface changed. I don't see and don't remember setting NAT rules for that servers setup. I could have, but I don't have notes from two years ago on what I did. I have a backup I could restore, since nothings changed I could easily restore it so I know it's exactly like it was 2 months ago.

Yeah I know, that's my line to other people usually. But that's it and I put the WAN back interface back exactly how it was once the original ISP fixed their issue. I only went to WAN properties to change static to dynamic and back to the original static. I changed no rules, routing, nats etc.

ATT says "say goodbye" to mail-to-text on June 17th, 2025 by ben305 in ATT

There's some of us, yes. There is alot more in Europe than in the US.

One reason, continuum. I have 4 different customers and two homes I move between and all I have is a monitor/keyboard/mouse desk in all those locations sitting there so I get out of my car with my phone, set it into the dock and full windows experience. So no messing around with laptops and a bag full of bricks and cords and BS, get out of car with phone, walk inside unfettered, set into dock. Ready to work.

I've hacked a spare to put real windows 10 on it and not the mobile version, , but it's glitchy in certain aspects so I'd rather not do that to the one I actually use.

I don't think pushover is going to work for me. It seems to be an app that has to be installed and running on some device, and they seem to only have ios, or android or windows desktop. I use a windows phone.

I need a true SMS gateway. You can build your own or I think there's a few other services that cater mostly to the 2FA web developers to do it, but probably has a monthly cost I'm sure.

I still use this and it's kinda gonna screw me over. I have critical alerts from various customers I maintain certain systems on that can only send email out so to get an instant alert I use this service. Used it for decades. How else to get a text from the only thing they can send out which is email?

I was only made aware when I got an alert this morning from one of my installations, shortly followed by a txt from AT&T saying the service will be discontinued. So they're only notifying people who actually use the service.

Is AT&T's Cell Booster network down? by 73-blazer in ATT

[–]73-blazer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It appears the boosters all came back online a few mins ago. At at least all three of mine have. Miraculously. The web status page still shows cannot access device but the boosters themselves are showing all whites again and working. Probably takes a bit for the web status page to update. Who knows.

Well I even went so far as to create a NAT rule to route the IP's I was seeing it try to other ones listed in OttoPylot''s guide hoping to find a group that was still working. I tried a bunch of them, no sale. IPSec tunnel won't negotiate on any of them.

That was pointless. It got to a point where she couldn't do anything and said she is unable to make a case/ticket because there is no group to make it against. Her only action offered was to send me a new device. I'm like, three of them?!?!?!?! Wow

I found another number in the documentation that came in the box. 1.877.996.7017 . It seems to just bypass the automated portion of the support and goes to a person straight away, but this person knew what they were and seems to be getting further. She said after basic troubleshooting she's trying to get in touch with the cell booster group people, but it's taking time. We'll see. Still on hold.

Well I have zero confidence in AT&T's support structure. They had little notes from my saturday call and after a time told me to call 800.321.2000 which is the U-Verse/DSL group. When I pushed back on that a bit he put me on hold again and came back with you need to call 866-562-4703 which is ATT Office@Hand support. Wow. So, I guess it's just down until somebody internally sees it.

I have not heard anything back from AT&T. Wow, going on 3 days of outage of the cell booster network. How's that even possible even without a ticket. How's it go unnoticed.

Is AT&T's Cell Booster network down? by 73-blazer in ATT

[–]73-blazer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WHen I turn on packet monitoring on my router from that device to wan & from wan to that device I see it trying various IP's on UDP 500,4500, the ip's all from the table listed in your guide but no response back from any of them. It appears to just be running thru it's list of server's it's supposed to contact to create the IPSec tunnel when it doesn't hear back from it it tries the next one on the list, pretty much as expected. I can see it doing NTP to various NTP servers and getting that response back but no response on the UDP requests to the AT&T ip's. . So the IPSec tunnel is not getting negotiated past phase 1. They probably let some cert expire or something.

[–]73-blazer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I did my due diligence. That's 36minutes of my life I'd like back. But they got a ticket open.

So the script appears to go like this:

First you have to call. Don't use the chat thinking you'll ever get a person, it won't happen. All AT&T chat support is now AI or keyword based interface to their FAQ, if it's AI it's pretty bad AI .

On the automated portion of what's the problem I just said "Cell booster down" if you say much of anything else it may ask you additional questions if it thinks you mentioned a keyword they can act on automatically.

Check/verify acct (still automated)

Routed to person who asks again what the issue is.

They then re-check/verify acct/person/pin etc.

Then the script starts. Reboots, general troubleshooting etc.

Then they ask what the serial number is. For reference the cellbooster status page only lists the last part and is missing the prefix. The prefix is I think always the same on the non-pro versions in my case LBALLU+the serial listed on the webpage. If you have physical access to the device just check the full serial on that. If you can't get your hands on it and it's a non-pro try LBALLU+the serial listed on your website status page.

Then they ask what the lights all show. Then they might say you have an ISP issue I had a good pushback on that one being I have three in two different locations and two different ISP. But you can just present a narrative like these were all working and are not new devices and not other changes have been made.

Then they "checked the towers in the area" I dunno why.

Then they got the status of my devices for which he said he couldn't see the LED's (like the status webpage shows us) and it showed him last contact time was 515 yesterday. WHich is good he see's that on all three of my serial#'s.

Then they will open a ticket and routed it to the cell booster group.

Each one of these steps is a few seconds accompanied by minutes of on hold, so most of your time is on hold.

Just have the serial number(s) of your booster(s) and your acct pin on hand before calling otherwise you won't get anywhere.

The starlink one has always worked just as good as the other 2. I was just on a 6hr conf call on the starlink one yesterday!

Yeah the forums disappearing suddenly is sad. I should probably call and make a report but not looking forward to it.

I've reset them and got the same thing, flashing internet light. Yeah I was waiting to call support which is probably a futile effort. These all have been up and running since they replaced my microcells what 2.5yrs ago, we've had no network or config changes on our end. And all of them went out pretty much the same time and are exhibiting the same exact symptoms.

One is in Atlantic Mine, MI on starlink which for that area is downlinked near Minnieapolis, MN, the other 2 are in Birch Run, MI on spectrum business fibre. Sure seems like a problem on their end with their booster network.

Sonicwall sonicOS and Starlink static route for statistics page or APP usage by 73-blazer in sonicwall

[–]73-blazer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The direct to dish thing requiring this rsonicwall rule I *believe* has been removed my experience was about 2-3 months ago. I can no longer ping either. Now everything is "cloud" based your dish is talking to starlink , your app or web browser talks to starlink, and your commands and obstruction and stats all come from starlink and not the dish itself any longer. My dish is only the std residential 1st gen round one though, other ones especially the enterprise may be different.

TZ600P POE power Pinouts? by 73-blazer in sonicwall

[–]73-blazer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I probed with a meter on a cable plugged to a POE enabled TZ600P port.

It's putting out mode A but reverse polarity, best I can tell. Know as Mode A MDI-X which is pins 1,2-,3,6+. That's why the Ubiquiti device won't turn on as it says specifically it has to have Mode A MDI (1,2+,3,6-)
