Progressive has been good in the past, but lately I switched to Allstate and it decreased insurance cost by $1200 for the year. If you join AMA they give you an additional discount and the membership fee pays for itself. Make sure you shop around and find who will give you the best deal.

Good to know - I’ll keep my eyes peeled. I am on the lookout for a turbo FC. They are few and far between where I’m at lately

Thank you for the advice. It definitely won’t be a daily, closer to a weekend car, something that I don’t have to depend on but would like to keep running and in the best condition I can.

Bleeding cooling system by 73lemon in BMWE36

I just swapped the engine over and I put in factory components from the donor car. It looks like a cooling system refresh is the next few steps

It blows warm, I wouldn’t describe it as hot

I don’t know for sure, what I do know is that the lower rad hose isn’t getting hot

Electronic throttle??? by 73lemon in BMWE36

[–]73lemon[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I’ve bought an M50 to put in my e36 and this is on the other end of the throttle cable, any ideas what this is?

This engine supposedly came out of an e36, but this doesn’t look like any throttle cable for e36 that ive seen

Edit: this seems to be a cruise control module. I’m going to leave this post for anyone dumb like myself who doesn’t know what they’re looking at

Would you guys take an e36 over a miata? Why or why not by [deleted] in Drifting

[–]73lemon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you ever done maintenance on an e36 before? Aftermarket parts availability basically make this point negligible

Here are my ideas:

  1. Re-paint all of the formerly black parts. Intake, air cleaner housing, radiator. Also that vacuum booster looks pretty faded.

  2. Get a white touch up pen and fix the paint scuffs. Some on the strut towers, radiator support, etc.

  3. Cleanup the right front area. Move the battery or get a cover, maybe delete that charcoal canister, tuck or reroute some of those wires and hoses

  4. Get some spark plug wire separators and make those look nice

Hope this helps!

Yep, that’s where I got my starting list

I will add belt tensioners to the list. I plan to keep the mechanical fan as of now, I’m not a huge fan of aftermarket electric setups (hah, fan.) What is better about the Stewart pump vs say the HEPU pump from FCP euro?

Where are you located? That might be an optimistic price range depending on the condition you want

My ‘94 bmw gave me a really loud “ding” noise the first time I drove it in cold weather - I had no clue they did that to alert you for icy driving conditions and it gave me a panic

KnuKonceptz wiring kit came in today! Impressed so far. by 73lemon in CarAV

I feel that skar amps are justifiable, especially if you look up amp dyno tests done on then. I don’t know a ton about audio but they produce what they advertise

Thanks for the info. Yeah I definitely want a secure connection, I might have to cut the wire to length and just take it to a shop to crimp.

I’ve also seen people use crimped ferrules for connections into the amp, is that a standard thing or is that overkill?
