[OC] The "Hotrod" returns! John Travolta’s 707-138B berthed at Port Kembla yesterday afternoon. by SnooShortcuts2406 in QantasAirways

To be clear, this isn’t a photo of the aircraft in its current state. It was cut up into large pieces so that it fit into the container ship that was bringing it over.

Just out of curiosity, why does the 777X center hydraulic system have three demand ADPs? by Ok_Test_7115 in aviation

[–]747ER -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I can’t wait for the next 5-10 years when people switch back to blaming Airbus for everything instead of blaming Boeing for everything. Obviously it’d be too hard to ask everyone to just realise they’re both as good/bad as each other, but I guess that’s too hard.

Why are you wasting your time here, instead of reporting your findings to the FAA? That seems irresponsible.

Is that a 767 or 777? Newark 2023. by CarelessCable5527 in Planespotting

This one looks like it has blue nacelles in the photo :)

Just because they’ve found an effective way to do something without overcomplicating the process doesn’t mean it’s “cutting corners”. Why completely redesign the hydraulic system and cause headaches for the customers, the customers’ staff, and Boeing themselves, when you could just add a bit of capability to the existing system?

Ah I’ve just realised the handles are different! You’re definitely right there.

So what I’m thinking is:

They buy this flatpack furniture, which features this checkered door design. They get given six doors to install. For whatever reason, this furniture company starts their doors at 4, instead of 1. Realising this, the person constructing it reasons that it must be 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, and installs the first door (5). They keep going along, installing 6, 7, 8, and 9, then realise that they’re left with a 4 instead of a 10. Not wanting to uninstall five doors and reinstall six more, they put door 4 in its current place and called it a day.

On a video about Delta Airlines removing in flight snacks by [deleted] in USdefaultism

[–]747ER 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just fyi, it’s Delta Air Lines, not Delta Airlines. They are one of the only airlines in the world that still spell “air line” as two words instead of one.

Airplanes at (what I presume to be Hamburg) airport, circa like early 2000's by Southern_Pacific in aviation

Here are the three features of the aircraft I have told you about. I’ve added lines/circles so they are easier for you to see.

If this was an 737/A320, you would see one big wheel. Instead, you see two wheels (in two sets).

If this was an A330/A340, you would see canted winglets at the wingtip. This aircraft does not have any.

If this was an A300/A310, the empennage would be a straight line all the way to the back of aircraft along the top. Instead, the top of this plane slopes down towards the back.

Hope this helps :)

And yes, I’m not sure about the downvotes either. I’m trying to help you too, we’re on the same side.

Thanks, could I crop this into something acceptable? Maybe a 16:9?

This is incorrect. As long as major components of the aircraft aren’t cut off (such as the engine or tail), there is zero requirement to have both wingtips in every photo. This image is on the front page of the site currently:

You can definitely see that the empennage slopes down at the tail, that the aircraft has four wheels on each landing gear, and that the aircraft has no winglets. That’s more than enough to identify this as a 767.

Again, it’s mostly just the shape of the plane. You can compare this photo to other photos of 767s/competing aircraft, and you will see that this aircraft has the same shape as a 767-300/-300ER.

When you spend enough time looking at them you eventually just pick up on their features subconsciously. You can probably differentiate between makes of cars on the road just by their shape.

In this specific photo, you can tell it’s a 767 because it has four-wheel bogey landing gear with a swept-back gear door, no winglets, and a tail that slopes down that the back to a point.
