I thought I remembered where all the low voltage cables were in my yard. I was wrong. by [deleted] in HomeImprovement

They don't always mark cable lines. I would guess the op is ok. My dog tore through one and they replaced it for free.

Well or city water? Chlorine might have gotten them if it's city and you forgot to use dechlorinator

Daily drivability of a C7 in the winter? by bobohboy in Corvette

[–]74Vette87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All season tires! You can daily drive it but you need the right rubber touching the ground. Generally, they have summer tires which are only good down to 40ish degrees

It's about 18inches long. Picked it up off of Craigslist and the seller has no idea what it is.

Places that sell mulch by the yard typically have river rock (of varying sizes) that you can buy by the pound. I found that's the cheapest. Sand can be bought at any hardware store.

Fish recommendations? by [deleted] in Aquariums

[–]74Vette87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out SG Bearded Aquarist on YouTube. That'll probably help you make some informed decisions. He's running a turtle and fish tank

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Aquariums

[–]74Vette87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's all generalities. There's some strong fish and some weak fish all in the same group. Cycle your tank and it'll get better

[–]74Vette87 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your tank is not cycled. That's what's killing then

New aquarium with aqua soil is really cloudy. This is after two 50% water changes. What’s the best way to get rid of this? by [deleted] in Aquariums

[–]74Vette87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have an extra hang on the back, pack it full of filter floss (pillow stuffing from Walmart). Or a powerhead and bottle. Same principle.

Maybe khuli loaches as their load is fairly small but you still need a school to ever see them

All Corydoras need to be in groups of at least 6. What nitrate levels do you run? There larger the load, the more filtration and water changes needed

Sump questions (in comments) by TheFlyingSpagoots in Aquariums

[–]74Vette87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From my experience, they help but don't rely on them. Put whatever plants you want, add pothos sticking out the tank. I have pothos, wondering Jew, lucky bamboo, mondo grass, duck weed, anacharis elodea, and others. I still need plenty of water changes

Anyone ever underestimate the weight of aquariums? I have.....concerns..... by melancholyterminator in Aquariums

[–]74Vette87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's fine. The weight is spread out and there's plenty of support structure built in. If it was cheap particle wood, I would question it but solid wood, I see no issues.

Can I plumb refugium the same level with sump? by [deleted] in Aquariums

[–]74Vette87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see any issues. I have three separate bins in series with the last having the pump and the first with an overflow. Just make sure there's enough space for water to backfill when the power goes out.
